I always wonder why teams don't put TEs or big WRs back there more often when defending the Hail Mary, like we used to do with Gronk.Awful job to let Lazard get position like that
Taron Johnson had a bad, bad half
Bill was talking about this but it was kind of a tough spot for the defense. There were 8 seconds left so a Hail Mary wasn’t guaranteed. The Jets had enough time to run a quick out then try a long FG. He said if he was coaching he would’ve had two plays called, a Hail Mary and a triple out and then let the defense dictate which one they run.I always wonder why teams don't put TEs or big WRs back there more often when defending the Hail Mary, like we used to do with Gronk.
Lazard is 6'5 and Buffalo doesn't have a DB taller than 6'2. But they've got at least four WRs or TEs that are 6'4, used to going up for jump balls, and all sitting on the sideline.
I was only half watching, but I cannot believe they call RTP on that.Soft
At least Aikman called it out.Just an awful, joke of a call. The these mealy mouth tv officiating commentators ever do anything but tout the party line?
Broadway Joe would never.Stop begging for calls. It's unseemly.
Throw in crushing injuries and it has become more difficult to watch each year ... and yet, here we areHard to reconcile my love of football with my abject hate for how it's officiated.
Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.Officiating has been abysmal for 2 decades. It’s nothing new.
Honestly, I was expecting the "defenseless receiver" callGood clean hit, can’t believe they didn’t flag it.
I think it is the rules that make it seem worse.Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.
I doubt we could find it but I’m pretty sure if we could dig up football game threads from 2004 we’d see the same kind of “officiating has never been worse!” Posts. Hell I’m sure I made some.Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.
do I know my team or what?Damn it man. Another 4 and potentially 7 point squander awaiting the kick. Hope 5 is ok
The league began its inexorable slide downward when Goodell replaced Tagliabue in 2007.Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.
I think the only way they've kept us hooked is by, in the playoffs, mostly swallowing their whistles and by establishing habitual viewing tendencies in the regular season. The officiating is now at catastrophic levels of bad, but as long as pathetic junkies like me keep coming back it will never be addressed. It’s a badly diminished product now.
20 years ago they played NFL football. Then Bill Polian cried. It's been downhill since then.Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.
