Awful job to let Lazard get position like that

Taron Johnson had a bad, bad half
I always wonder why teams don't put TEs or big WRs back there more often when defending the Hail Mary, like we used to do with Gronk.

Lazard is 6'5 and Buffalo doesn't have a DB taller than 6'2. But they've got at least four WRs or TEs that are 6'4, used to going up for jump balls, and all sitting on the sideline.

Correct, Randy Moss and Gronk used to be back there in Hail Mary attempts. Seen Julio Jones do it too.

Bill was talking about this but it was kind of a tough spot for the defense. There were 8 seconds left so a Hail Mary wasn’t guaranteed. The Jets had enough time to run a quick out then try a long FG. He said if he was coaching he would’ve had two plays called, a Hail Mary and a triple out and then let the defense dictate which one they run.

Wonder if that played into the personnel on the field.

Free 3pts but Breece needed to score in the open field. Can’t get pushed out by a guy smaller than you. Take him on

Damn it man. Another 4 and potentially 7 point squander awaiting the kick. Hope 5 is ok

Disagree. 20 years ago there were less absurd rules/calls for them to fuck up.
I doubt we could find it but I’m pretty sure if we could dig up football game threads from 2004 we’d see the same kind of “officiating has never been worse!” Posts. Hell I’m sure I made some.

The officiating is now at catastrophic levels of bad, but as long as pathetic junkies like me keep coming back it will never be addressed. It’s a badly diminished product now.
I think the only way they've kept us hooked is by, in the playoffs, mostly swallowing their whistles and by establishing habitual viewing tendencies in the regular season.
