Stunning display of skill and ineptitude from Villa in a single play.
It was definitely one of those situations where not scoring seemed harder than scoring.

I’ve mostly cut back on watching neutral football because of my angst over var and penalties but this match has been phenomenal to watch. End to end open football with no stoppages.

I think a lot of teams really missed not prying Grealish out of Villa this summer. He’s a really dynamic player, I’d prefer him over a lot of options

Man, Sargent had a couple looks to win it, but Neuer is good. Great point for Bremen (and Dortmund and Leipzig).

Trezeguet's pathetic play acting and rolling around on the ground does not pay off.

"Oh my god, he tapped my shin guard, I think I'm dying! Was I shot? Did he attack me with a chainsaw? I will roll around now holding my leg and screaming for 4 minutes!"

Yes, well played by Brighton. I'm glad that penalty got overturned. They are a better squad than their results have shown to date, and Lamptey is electric.

Son loves to score against Citeh.

Strange Kane didn’t get the assist there.

Fun game. Spurs are sitting back which seems very risky against a team with City’s offensive talent. It does allow Tottenham to work the counter and Citeh’s backline is...questionable.

Goal rightly ruled out for handball. I’m still sore about that stupid Llorente goal in CL a few years back so I’m angry to have it happen against Spurs but the right call

City are deliberately hacking down Kane every time he touches the ball in midfield so that he can't turn and initiate counters. It's a good tactic but Mike Dean needs to start booking people for it.

Yeah the “hip” goal.

Every City match is Groundhog Day. Back 5 with 4 in front. Pass pass pass hoping for a moment of genius. City are so desperate for a large striker who can win headers because the only openings are crosses to short strikers. It’s all so pointless

For the last 15 minutes of the first half Villa were swarming all over Brighton. I have no idea how Villa didn’t bag at least one there.

I'm hearing Utd have this Dutch player that's decent. Wonder if he'll get on when Mata gets gassed around the 65 minute mark.

I feel like Ole's job's on the line here.

Is anyone else watching Atletico-Barca? I’ll stop commenting into the void if not.
I'm thrilled to not be the only one watching this game!

I thought Atletico had the better chances, though I still feel on the verge of a heart attack each time Atletico sits back so deeply against Messi.

Thanks man.

Series of colossal fuck-ups by Barca leads to an Atletico goal at the end of 1st half stoppage time. 1-0 at halftime.
Carrasco really seems to shine against Barcelona. Barca definitely made a handful of mistakes there, but Carrasco made the most of the moment, including the nutmeg of Ter Stegen.

Hmmm...Ref changes his mind after VAR review and West Norwich Albion do not get a penalty after all.

Pundits seem to think it's a bad decision.

The Norwich Albion penalty should have stood.

The United penalty was weak, but understandable.

If the taker is allowed to play the games that Bruno and Jorginho engage in, the keeper should be allowed their jump. The goalkeeper does not have a single advantage in this situation and takers are stretching of the wording of the runup rules.

No doubt.

Agree that AM has been the better side.

Guess we’re going to see the American (Dest) for Barca due to the injury to Pique.

Pique takes quite a blow to the knee in an unfortunate fall/collision. He limps off in tears.

I love hearing the announcer say "The American Dest will come on."

Every time the official pulls out his cards, I think he’s going red.

Looked like a clean challenge on Messi by Atletico there. Definitely shouldn’t have been yellow.

Even if Atletico manages to hold on, I still don't like Simeone's lack of substitutions. The players look tired after the international break.

I just turned the game on, and my first thought was, “I thought for sure Norwich had been relegated.”

Barcelona look totally toothless without a striker. There's clearly a lot of talent with Messi, Griezmann, Dembele, and Coutinho, but they look a bit lost at the moment.
