Eovaldi vs. Gausman. We don't seem to be able to do anything with Gausman, but maybe the additional rest will give Eovaldi enough stamina to compete.

Stupid baseball birthday: Doc Cramer. I had never heard of him till today, although he played for the Sox for 5 years.

A real nice crisp cool win would really do wonders. The energy was great after those two tough victories over the Yankees, but then a blown game after a good outing by Sale and some real garbage play, along with a bunch of injuries, etc.... put a real damper on the season. Sale is likely out for the season and a lot of hope went with him. I don't know when Story is expected back, but having Eovaldi and Whitlock back, along with some rest for Devers, X, etc... should help. But beating Gausman and the competition in Fenway today will really brighten me up.

It’s going to be dangerously hot in Boston these next three days.

I've been working out doors in Austin, TX over and there's never been anything like this heatwave in my 14 years here. I've averaged easily more than a gallon of water a day without urinating and still had mild heat stroke. It's just crazy. The evenings have been bearable- down in the high 80's. I hope it's not like this up there

I'm glad you like me. It's mutual. Well we work on larger job sites that have start and finish times... but yeah.... we've been starting at 7 and wrapping it up at 2. 7 hour day but the job site gates close at 5. It's pretty miserable. I'm about half days in the field and half in the shop. Luckily this week we're in the shade.

Not really, but based on the eye test only CV is a pretty big defensive upgrade at 1B.

Suggests Bello back to the rotation (they don’t really have any other internal options), Whitlock remaining in the rotation, and Wacha / Hill not ready for a bit.

Not sure what to make of Sanchez; assume he should start instead of Downs. Downs stays up because there aren’t any other position players on the 40. Assume he goes down whenever Arroyo (or Story) is back.
