In today's podcast minihane alluded to problems at 98.5, including someone holding out by claiming to be sick
Nobody loves conflict like Minihane. He loves starting it, talking about it and all that. Whether it's on his show, ripping mid day WEEI, replaying shit with Keeter or with 98.5.

He loves it and it's so tired.

I guess Beetle stormed out the other day than got sick. Hardy and Zo were wondering today if he was suspended, but they both said he wasn't.

Also Zo was sick the past few days

I guess they got into a heated exchange the other day. I haven't heard it but a few shows (including their fill ins) mentioned it
Socci is filling in for Zo to interview BB on Patriots All Access...BB is stone faced and giving Socci the cold look...Socci looks scared sitting in front of BB

I wonder if it's awkward for Beetle to listen to the dozens of Awaken 180 reads everyday.....

it's probably easier than getting forced to take part in a sponsor's phony diet.

"I ate a cookie for a week and am now down 2 pounds!"

Some guy who lives with his mother went on for a few minutes today about how Jones shouldn't care because he's a black and he's making a lot of money. Those blacks making a lot of money are putting the white man on a guilt trip and how bad the whites have it. Then he referred to Kraft as a problem with America because he's a rich Jew.

His mother was yelling at him to get off the phone on the call. He sounded about 60. Easily one of the worst calls I've heard.

They let him stay on that long? Geesh.

Anyone still listening to this show? I was never a fan of Hardy. He annoys me more than the probably should. Not even sure what it is about him but I would still listen.

Beetle though I used to like. Thought he was pretty good. Now he just seems more over the top and overly critical when ever possible. Been that way for a little way. At least it sounds that way to me. Luke he is playing the role. Not sure if this is by design to attract a wider audience but I can't listen very long these days.

I missed most of it, but did anyone catch the woman who called in today who supposedly was relating a recent conversation she had with a Sox player? FWIW, I believe one of the things she claims she was told is that Hosmer has zero interest in coming to Boston.

I caught the beginning but with Zo and Beetle interrupting her the whole time I shut it off after 30 seconds

You need to forgive them. They went to powerhouse football schools, so it is easy for them to overlook the majesty of the Twinnies.

(Full disclosure - my cousin got married in MSP, and I have absolutely no recollection of the bachelor party, so it must have been a good time).

Currently trashing Minneapolis for being cold and "too small", but San Diego and Indianapolis are "Real Cities" so it's fine.

The Twin Cities are bigger than both of those cities. In the case of Indy, significantly so.

These guys sound like assholes.
I went to the final four in Indy and it was awesome. I expected the worst, but they had that thing nailed down.

Brendan Merriweather said that the Twin Cities were very underrated for strip clubs, so you've got that going for you.

Seriously though the high is between 20's to a high of 36 tomorrow to teens the rest of the week. Any city with that cold weather is going to get bad feedback. It was that weather around Boston a few weeks go and it was awful, even for natives. I don't think you need to take it personally. They're basically in freezing temps and locked between the Mall of America and the stadium. It's too cold for many to do much else.

Of course it’s going to be a talking point. But For a bunch of tough-acting jackasses, it’s a little funny to hear so much complaining about a little cold.

And no, it’s not too cold for the natives. Kids, my 5 year olds, have outdoor recess unless windchill is below -10.

But aside from that (and yeah obviously this place is more enjoyable in June or September), “This whole city sucks because it’s cold in January” is a moronic sentiment.

In any case, it’s sports radio. Not exactly the provenance of informed opinions.

Our pre-school is the same way but don't have outdoor recess below 10 degrees windchill and they're pretty tough compared to many schools in Mass. Just goes to show you, you're used you worse weather than New England. 95% of the country thinks you guys are nuts with weather. Nevermind Philly which is tropical compared to Boston at times.

You’re talking about people who have been to multiple Super Bowls in multiple cities, it isn’t like this is their first rodeo and they are of course making comparisons. They are complaining about the cold because they would rather be spending their time hanging out in New Orleans, Miami or Arizona, and so would pretty much any other sane individual.

That’s not to say they aren’t morons, but it’s fucking cold in Minneapolis compared to pretty much any other place the Super Bowl could possibly be this weekend.

Fine. But blame the league. Don’t shit on the locals or where they live because you got short changed a free vacation in Miami.

On an unrelated note, Zo will be on Pardon My Take tomorrow from the back of Vandy Moss. I can't wait for the chaos that will be.

Maybe just don't be so sensitive. If the Super Bowl was in Boston (even real Boston not Foxboro) and it was the same temps like it was a few weeks ago and everyone said it sucked and Boston sucks, I'd have agreed with them. It was completely miserable here for 14 days or so, which is comparable to the next 4-5 days in Minnesota.

When it's 5 degrees out, the Freedom Trail isn't exactly a fun thing to do or anything else outside. It's nothing personal, but being outside in that weather sucks for anyone who's not in the Northern US and used to dealing with a miserable weather climate.

A caller into Beetle and Zo yesterday told them Edelman was getting suspended for 4 games. Need to check the podcast to get his name in case he becomes a semi regular with inside info.

Zo's..."personality" sometimes really gets in the way of the show. Like he's tripping over himself to be..."ZO!". I really hope being simulcast doesn't make it worse

If anything, J-Man, it will probably get worse (from your perspective) as the season approaches. I feel like they are the anti F&M. Everything is Unicorns and Show Ponies.

To bring it full circle, wasn't there some underrated QB that backed up Griese?
I would imagine that Zo would have been rated higher than TB had their careers intercepted (something that Zo is familiar with... bazinga!)

Back to the show - Zo is plugged into the day-to-day at Foxboro- well, more-so that most of the irregulars (Gasper would be the exception). Their show is where I would actually expect to hear something meaningful during camp, as opposed to F&M who would play up the "Brady looked upset walking off the field... who do you think he will be traded for?" angle.

Zo seems to know way more than what he talks about. He errs on the side of caution but he definitely has piles of inside info. He's said a million times he's not a reporter and it's not his job to break news (despite the WE LOVE BREAKING NEWS promo) and is very conscious of his sources.

He's in an interesting spot as a former Patriot in good standing with the org, the voice of the Patriots as a color guy and also doing 4 hours a day on the Patriots' radio network.

I can't do it today with Jones filling in for Zo and Beetle. He'd find a way to turn a championship-winning game into something negative.
Very prophetic. Zo was out today with Pats game tonight.
Running a few errands so figured I'd listen to some talk about how the Sox ran through the past season.
Nope. Beetle and Hardy were criticizing Price for his press conference. Just all over him. I went into the store, came back and they were discussing how Mookie and JD contributed virtually nothing. Click. Came back later and they were talking about Vazquez throwing the ball away and asking if Nunez went into stands on purpose.
Beetle has become unlistenable.

That's precisely why I love the Price press conference. These thin skinned motherfuckers absolutely 100% deserved that call out, and whenever they try to diss him in the future, their listeners aren't going to have it. These are completely miserable people that lead miserable lives.

Remember when Beetle was the one calling out Felger on a daily basis before he got exhausted and gave up? It's too bad that guy didn't get the midday show.

Also, did anybody make a The Beetle And The Damage Done reference?

Dale & Keefe talking about the sales weasels devouring the free food that arrived while they were on the air. Over to 98.5 for some sanity, but no. They're discussing how one of the production team likes their ham & eggs. What's going on here?

That's just fun radio, you guys.

Like you know how much you love to hear other people talk about the people they work with, even though you don't know those people? Same thing. Just so much fun!

I dont think Zo reciting locker room stories from 25 years ago is a fireable offense.

If he went into details about how *he* was drilling the holes and such, maybe

Fire him for his complete lack of sports insight outside of the Pat's, tho

I mean... Peeping Tom is a crime. He looked...he admitted that. He defended that. If he peeped into his neighbor's window tonight to see a woman naked...or he did it to his neighbor 25 years ago...for pleasure... without the women's knowledge in either case...that's a fireable offense!

You don’t think it’s gross and fireable to joke about invading other people’s privacy by watching them naked? Who cares how long ago it was, unless he’s saying he’s changed since then and now regrets his actions.
