Brady is returning and there will be a lot of strong feelings abound given what Brady meant to the franchise and its fans. But now he's a Buccaneer and we have our Mac. So, what do you want to see Sunday night (apart from a Pats win)? I'll start it off. I was one of the bigger Brady fan boys the past 2 decades. Will always love what he accomplished and how he handled himself. Just the perfect athlete and representative of the area. And, quite clearly, the GOAT.

But you know what? I feel like Belichick isn't getting the attention that he deserves and I'm starting to get annoyed by that. The last 12 months has been Brady this, Brady that, all the time. And with good reason given what he accomplished. But now it's Belichick's turn. I'm not one of those people who want the Pats to win but Brady to play well. F that. I want to see a vintage Belichick performance where the Pats win and Brady has one of his 270 yard 2 TD/3 INT type games. I want to see frustrated Brady face. I want to see INTs. I want Judon and Co. to knock him down and be really physical. Clearly, I don't want injuries but I want this to be a very difficult game for Brady and one where the narrative shifts back to Belichick. Brady's had his fun and will get a ton of acknowledgements before and during the game. Now it's BB's turn.

This Pats team needs a giant spark and taking Brady down in impressive fashion could be that spark.

I voted "Pats win but Brady plays lights out," but I have trouble envisioning how those two things could both happen, realistically.

Jones plays his best game so far. They run the ball effectively and dominate time of possession. Brady still has a 70% completion rate throws for 400 and 3 TDs but loses 28-21.

199-0 Pats, 6 pick 6's, a fake fg td, fake punt td, 2 onside kick recoveries, 1 fake XPT kick conversion for 2PT, 1 2PT converson on QB dive, 5 safeties. And the rest can't be said unless it's P&G

43-42 Patriots victory with both QBs throwing six touchdowns- Mac just throws the last one and then converts on the 2 point try. I think I've covered this before.

They'd need a couple of non-Brady Bucs putting the ball on the ground and a missed FG or 2, but it's plausible Brady could play lights out and still lose.

Both Mac and Brady are great. High scoring affair where Brady and Mac throw for 3-5 TD's each. No picks.

Brady with 2 minutes left, down by 6 goes for a quick 45 second drive and takes the lead. Mac, with 1:15 left marches down and Nick Folk kicks a 40+ yarder to win.

All I know is that if Brady has the ball down down by less than a touchdown with under 2 left, people will be stroking out due to conflicting emotions.

Other: Pats win and I don't give a shit how Brady plays

Edit- NM I want him to play terrible because I'm facing him in fantasy football, otherwise I wouldn't care how he plays

Pats win, I don't care how Brady does. But I really don't want him to get injured.

Plus, I'd like to see Gronk score a TD and throw down a for-old-times spike in garbage time, with the Pats well ahead.

Pats win. Don't care about the rest. Six TDs or Six picks, doesn't matter. I guess I hope that Brady gets a great and proper ovation but I don't think there is much chance of that not happening.

I voted "Pats win, but Brady plays lights out." Truth be told, I see those as 2 mutually exclusive outcomes. But, hey, everyone loves a good poll!

Brady is my favorite athlete of all-time alongside Ortiz. I'll always have appreciation of what he accomplished in New England. But, he's the opponent on Sunday and I hope he throws 4 picks and the Pats win. These fans that cheer for Brady against the Patriots reek of Johnny-Come-Lately's whose only allegiance to the team started in 2001.

Pats win and Brady plays lights out is the best outcome because the Patriots win and it doesn't give a lot of ammunition to the "who carried who" narrative in the following week, which is so tiring.

Yeah, if the question is just "do you hope Brady plays well or poorly" the answer is I hope he plays poorly because that means it's more likely the Pats win. But if the question is, "assuming the Pats win, do you hope Brady plays well or poorly in a losing effort," the answer is yes for the reason above.

Seriously?
Of course. There are a lot of Brady fanboys that don't want to see him fail, but also want to have the Pats win. Early results on this poll already indicate that and SoSH isn't actually overly representative of the legion of Pats fans that are actually more fans of Brady than the actual football team. People want it both ways and Brady driving for the win is potentially going to deprive them of either a Pat's win or (the unnecessary) validation of Brady as the comeback king.

Pats win. I don't care how Brady plays, but from a pure entertainment value I've always loved watching him at his best and I hope he gets cheered like Mariano Rivera in his final Fenway appearance.

Brady's the GOAT and deserves to be treated like it, but I'm still rooting for the laundry.

I’m sorry but this is ludicrous. No true Pats fan would be conflicted in that situation.

Yeah, I think if Brady has the ball late driving for the win 99.9% of Pats fans will be rooting for him to come up short. What I think is if he does come through, people would take it a lot easier than they would a final minute drive by Peyton Manning. I'd expect a lot of "well, I guess that's how this fucker made the rest of the league feel for years, huh" feelings instead of outright anger or frustration.

Pats get a ton of pressure up the middle rushing 4 and dropping 7 into coverage, Brady looks off all game, and the Sons of Dexter Jackson spend all week worrying that the Patriots have delivered The Blueprint for containing their offense.

I agree on the second part, but you're crazy if you think all Pats fans are "true" Pats fans. Call them a pink hat equivalent or whatever, but their undying devotion to Tom Brady didn't end when he switched jersey's, but they still want to show allegiance to their team. I never claimed it would be even a substantial minority of fans, but there will be a lot of people conflicted about it.

It's funny regarding the poll in that the voting is either for him to play lights out or to play miserably.

But hey, in both cases, people want the Patriots to win.

One thing this whole Brady saga has taught me is there are A LOT of Brady fans around here vs actual Patriots fans.

And by around here, I don't mean SOSH, but New England, Massachusetts in general.

I'll be curious to see how season ticket sales go with this team in 2022 if they do not have a good year this year/sub 500 and do not make the playoffs, that's two years in a row for the first time since 1999/2000.

That streak is hard to fathom, just goes to show you how dominant this team has been.

Brady has lost games before, even ones where he has played poorly. It'll be ok.

If Brady is driving for the winning TD, it'll be an easy decision. He doesn't need more accolades, especially as a member of an opposing team. The Patriots NEED a win Sunday. This is the easiest slam dunk.

I just hope Mac looks like a competent QB finally.

To be clear on my post: I don't really give a shit about how Brady plays; but if he throws 5 pick-sixes and the Pats throw up a shutout, it probably means the Pats D played awesome. That's what I care about on that side of the ball. I want to see the D play well and show that it can be better than we've seen thus far. It has zero to do with Brady.

where I was last at
I went for full fantasy.

Mac goes full Brady on the master, and ties the game 42-all at 0:00, with his (TB12 matching) 6th TD pass and then leads a game winning TD drive in OT.

Pats win. Brady plays well and then grabs a microphone to announce that he is retiring in front of the greatest fans ever and also he is going to become the new Quarterbacks Coach of the Patriots.

Or
Brady plays poorly and realizes he should give it up. Announces he will become “assistant” OC of the Patriots.

I voted Pats win and Brady stinks. I will always love Tom but f it, he's playing my team so I hope he gets embarrassed like I hope every opposing QB against us does. Plus it would shut up the idiots in the media putting the whole dynasty on just Brady.

This captures it for me. I can't root against Tom Brady, except if he's trying to beat the Patriots in a game of football that matters. I could never root for a player to have success against the Pats, even Tom Brady.

After Sunday I hope TB12 goes back to tearing up the league, but for Sunday I hope he sucks.

Maybe this is the wrong thread, but I am way more concerned about what this game means for the season than I am about all of the legacy and "Goat vs Goat" hype. Like, they're 1-2, with both losses at home. They clearly need to figure some things out. Are they going to be one of those teams that starts slow, figures it out and makes the playoffs? Are they going to be one of those teams that starts slow, figures it out too late and just misses the playoffs? Or will they never figure it out and just plain suck?

That's what concerns me. I just want to see them begin to figure some things out Sunday.

I voted for this too. Because for the Pats to win under this circumstance, Mac almost has to have a coming out party, which would bode well for the future. (I'll ignore what it says about the Pats defense.)

Here's what they need to figure out: block for Mac Jones. That's literally all that is standing in the way of this offense taking off.

uh... yeah there is a lot more than that. They have few pass game playmakers and a rookie QB who is near the bottom of the league in arm talent. For this offense to take off (which I assume means legitimately be good) they need the line and RB rotation to be contending for the best running game in the league likely. If they just get good pass blocking this offense can take off all the way to being averagish at best (which with the defense could be enough to win 9-10 games)
