Super Bowls are so unpredictable. Who could have guessed Malcolm Butler would be among the main topics of discussion the day after SB XLIX? I've been thinking about what might be the main talking points on Monday morning .

1. Tom MFing Brady and BB get #6
2. Brian Flores. I think he comes up with a great game plan in stark contrast to Patricia and we're talking about how big of a loss he's going to be
3. Gronk goes out with a bang with a vintage performance
4. The referees. We're going to be talking about one major blown call in each direction.
5. Goff's struggles.
6. Talib taps out after seemingly minor injury
7. McVay not quite ready for prime time
8. Pay Trey Flowers. 2 sacks and a disruptive force all game.
9. James White's place among great Super Bowl performers
10. Brandin Cooks circus catch (there's always one)

What do you think? Bragging rights await .

"Who could have guessed Malcolm Butler would be among the main topics of discussion the day after SB XLIX?"

or after SB LII?

I hope Monday AM brings talk of whether the Pats dynasty is now unquestionably the greatest in NFL history.

Hopefully it is along the lines of "which was the better run, 2001-2007 (3 titles / 4 super bowl appearances / undefeated regular season) or 2009-2018 (3 titles / 5 super bowl appearances"

Those all seem to be predicated on a Pats’ win. So let’s hope for those.
But if the Rams win (yuck), we will be talking about one of these:
1. Passing of torch from TB12 to Goff
2. Resurrection of Todd Gurley
3. The Rams DLine repeating the NYG road to beating TB.

The talk will be of Sony gaining 180 yards and how Tom didn't really earn this one and we're all going to be laughing while we nurse massive hangovers.

Yup.

In the meta-media category, let's hope NE pulls it out or else Kellerman and Parker will be making their victory tours all week (and beyond). "Max...how'd you see it coming, man?!"
The Patriots are in the Super Bowl after beating two of the best teams in the league to get there. One of those games was a laugher. The other was in a difficult environment, on the road. No matter what happens tomorrow, Kellerman is wrong.

I feel like the storyline will be Gurley. Either he was healthy and had a major impact on a Rams W or he clearly was hurt and Rams couldn’t keep up.

Gurley and Donald one way or the other. Pat's control them and win or one/both prove too much to handle. Those guys are the keys. Cooks is another wildcard.

If Pat's win itll be the above plus Brady and BB of course.

I'm with you 100%, rather just pointing out the myopic nature of the Kellerman types of talking heads.

We will be hearing about whether or not Gronk retires for 6 months after his MVP performance in the Super Bowl.

I would be okay with Rams fans saying that the Pats were being stopped by their D until Talib tweaked his hammy and their back up couldn’t stop shit.

That still drives me nuts from that Ravens game forever ago.

Pats win a close one, and there’s some minor controversy of some kind or another involved that has the nation up in arms with furiously giddy declarations for an asterisk, or anything else they can muster in attempt to diminish the legacy.

Taking nothing from the Packers team history, but I fashioned the question around the"dynastic" aspect. ie Lombardi's 60s Packers, or Nolls 70s Steeler's, as opposed the titles won by Curley Lambeau.
In the first 3 of the Packers title years there weren't even any playoff games (the team with the best record was declared the champion). In their first title year that did involve any playoff game, the Packers beat the Boston Redskins in a one game playoff. The attendance at their first title clinching game was 6,000, but it was at Wrigley Field and the Bears weren't good that year. Those era teams probably lose to today's Division III schools, if you could ever get them together.

And I forgot to link the other one but you’re batting 2/2, 1000.

I think we hear how Belichick got the best of the whiz kid. Patriots came out strong again and built a lead. How this team reminds people of the early 2000s squads and not just in size.

Trent Brown bodyslaming Suh and breaking his neck after Suh takes out Bradys knees on purpose in the 1st Quarter. Suh suspended for life. Also Gronkowski throwing a TD pass.

Thank god we're not talking about Ghost.
Made fifteen of his sixteen kicks this postseason, including 5/6 on FG. Now a career 89% FG kicker in 28 career playoff games (guess who’s 81% for his career in the playoffs).

People don’t realize how good we have it. I look forward to his franchising, should Bill deem it necessary.

In the simulacrum
I am talking about just how good a coach Belichick is, and not at all in terms of X and Os.

It is a genuinely incredible, admirable thing to see the way he coaches -- he coaches in a way that shows more regard and respect for players than plenty of clowns I see even coaching 11 year olds.

As a result, he is able to construct a team that is unique in its ability to grapple with a situation like yesterday where the Rams really played a great, great defensive game. It seems to me that many coaches -- often to their benefit -- are such ego maniacs, such hot heads and so confident in their approach that their capacity to deal with a game like yesterday would be next to zero, not just in terms of in game adjustments, but in terms personnel being capable of dealing with this grind of a game in the context of, well, say Wade Phillips designing a Hall of Fame game plan (let's give it up for him, seriously).

In a sense, it is a mark of not just being a great 'leader' but of being a coach with a great capacity to cultivate the 'leadership' or confidence and virtues of seemingly about 100 people, from coaches and players on down, all of whom really had to deal with a ton last night.

And you know, you can tell that the players really love this guy in the best way you would want a bunch of 25 year olds to love and admire their coach.

I thought about this earlier this morning but it seemed like every throw to a WR that Goff made, it was Gilmore in coverage. Was the plan to try and pick on him??

The crazy thing is that he *never drops the character* ever in an interview.

Like, he just won his sixth title. He drew up a defensive game plan that held one of the highest scoring offenses in the highest scoring year of all time to 3 points. He has a dynasty that spans 20 years.

"All the credit goes to the players, who tackled, stopped the running game, hit the quarterback, and made the plays."

I mean shit in large part the defensive players that started this run are now coaches, grandparents, media celebrities, etc. It's just incredible how he manages never to take credit.
