Seems like we are at the point with Sale that we are just trying to "steal outs" with him right from the get-go. Every inning we got out of him is three less outs that somebody from the bullpen needs to get.

At this point in the season, he's an opener. Since Cora respects Sale as much as he does and is hoping that things will be back to normal for him in 2022, he'll most likely not use that term publically when referring to Sale's starts, but that's really his role at this point.

Agreed. Any Sale start has to be viewed as a potential bullpen game and I think that Cora might have to have some flexibility as to when he wants to start Sale depending on bullpen usage leading up to any Sale start. The built in days off with the LDS and LCS scheduling may play a hand in that sort of decision making so in all likelihood starting him after a scheduled day off or that following day might make most sense.

Man, they got a 90-95th percentile type of outing from Sale yesterday afternoon and didn't capitalize. Credit to Sale, and to Cora for having the confidence to put him out there. I was definitely wrong on that one.

I wonder if he'd be ok for an inning in a game 7, if it gets there.

I don't think there's any doubt he'd be okay for an inning in Game 6, let alone Game 7. It's just a matter of whether Cora (or the medical staff) think it's in his best interest to do his normal between starts work at game speeds. I hope we see him again, if only because it is a sign things are going well for the team. I doubt Cora would use him for an inning if the team was down by more than one.

Yeah agree pretty much all around on this.
