I think this is how I feel.Any of the four matchups would, from a pure football standpoint, be delicious. All four teams are outstanding, with electric players and playmakers. All four have great stories and there's reasons to root for each team (maybe not for each person here individually, but still, they exist).
But for ME... I'd prefer to see Philly vs. Cincy. I think that would be a total blast. I don't want Mahomes getting any closer to Brady. I don't want San Fran getting Lombardi #6.
If Mac ever develops into a great QB, then hell yeah there will be a Mac/Burrow Pats/Bengals rivalry. They'll be able to point to their time in the SEC together.I think this is how I feel.
I’m a little biased because my boss at the moment is a “prominent” 49ers fan and I may get to attend the Super Bowl if they make it. So despite generally liking this Eagles team (especially Hurts — he’s so much fun to watch), I’m fine rooting for them.
Yet another on the Bengals bandwagon. Burrow is funny, he’s fun to watch outsmart defenses, and there’s no Patriots rivalry to sour me on him. He’s sort of like… oh no… the new Peyton… (ducks). But again, without the Patriots/Brady rivalry.
Watching Burrow yesterday it was apparent to me that Mac will never be his rival any more than Mark Sanchez was Brady's rival. If Mac ever develops into a great QB, then hell yeah there will be a Mac/Burrow Pats/Bengals rivalry. They'll be able to point to their time in the SEC together.
BUT.....that's a huge IF on the part of Mac.
That's almost certainly correct. But IF Mac can be good enough where the Pats are routinely contending to make the AFCCG, then yeah, it could be a rivalry. And heck, the Pats almost beat the Bengals THIS year, even with crappy Mac and a horrific offensive line.Watching Burrow yesterday it was apparent to me that Mac will never be his rival any more than Mark Sanchez was Brady's rival.
I think he is in trouble. Hope he can play close to his normal level but I doubt it.I really wonder how Mahomes will feel. Unless he needs to have his foot amputated, I'm pretty sure he'll give it a go. But sometimes adrenaline can allow you to play through a severe sprain, and then in the next few days the real pain begins.
This is easily the highest ceiling matchup (pending Mahomes health) but I very much want neither of these teams to win.Philly v. KC.
Just kidding. I want the same one everyone else does. But it is going to be Philly v. KC.
Romo said he wouldn't be able to walk all week. And would likely need crutches this week. That is an incredibly painful injury. Chiefs doctors will certainly empty their medicine cabinet and inject him with every pain killer in KC before the game but it has to impact everything he does on the field. And who knows, Mahomes at 70% at home may be good enough to beat the Bengals but this has to impact the game.I think he is in trouble. Hope he can play close to his normal level but I doubt it.
Love every word of this post.Hate the chiefs. Hate the eagles. Give me Bengals/ Niners.
To be completely honest though, seeing Buffalo waste another season of Josh Allen hits to not even make the championship game, let alone a super bowl, was all I was hoping for. Delicious. Then to see Diggs explode on his all-pro QB on the sideline? Exquisite.
I hate spending firsts on RB but feel like the Bills are one of the few teams where that makes sense. The threat of Allen running with a guy like Bijan Robinson would be immense. Singletary just doesn’t scare defenses, even with the Allen thread.Love every word of this post.
Diggs going off on Allen was the icing on the cake; sort of ironic that this version of the Bills is severely impacted by bad weather and the city of Buffalo is the king of bad weather between wind, rain and snow, they are not built for that sort of weather.
If it's Eagles/Chefs, like the recent Broncos/Panthers and Bucs/Chefs Super Bowls, I'm out.
I know there's varying degrees of a high ankle sprain, but Mac missed about a month with it. Jimmy G missed multiple games as well. I doubt Mahomes practices this week, but assume he will give it a go on Sunday. The Chiefs getting 70% of Mahomes might be an absolute best case outcome.Romo said he wouldn't be able to walk all week. And would likely need crutches this week. Gronkowski had a high ankle spring in the 2012 SB vs the Giants, he sustained it in the AFCCG, and had two weeks in between and was nothing more than a decoy that whole game.I know there's varying degrees of a high ankle sprain, but Mac missed about a month with it. He couldn't even hand the ball to the RB without limping badly a few times. Mahomes can still be a pretty effective passer if he has to stay in the pocket, but this will be difficult.Gronkowski had a high ankle spring in the 2012 SB vs the Giants, he sustained it in the AFCCG, and had two weeks in between and was nothing more than a decoy that whole game.
Granted a TE has to do a lot more running around than a QB does, but a QB also needs mobility in the pocket and to be able to push off on that back foot when he throws.
I think that Trevor Lawrence and Burrow will have that. Lawrence is the heralded guy, shit first season and started coming into his own in season 2. Burrow, while he obviously had a lot of success at the collegiate level, it didn't come without pain. If the transfer window existed in a way that it does today back then, Brady would have transferred out the instant piece of shit Drew Henson came onto the scene.I think this is how I feel.

So true about Gronk. I was so depressed after Gronk got hurt, as that was his first unstoppable season and he was already a local hero. I remember Bedard saying that “Drago [his nickname for Gronk then] is made of iron. He’ll be fine”…but as you say he wasn’t. He did come back into the CG and was pretty good, but that was adrenaline. Damn Bernard Pollard.Gronkowski had a high ankle spring in the 2012 SB vs the Giants, he sustained it in the AFCCG, and had two weeks in between and was nothing more than a decoy that whole game.

Well, and since we don't want SF getting Lombardi #6 and joining us at that level, the only option left is Cincinnati, right?1 - Mahomes represents an assault to the GOAT. And, while recency bias can turn a lot of you into fuckfaces, in 10 years - and then forever going forward - he'll be remembered as a Patriot.
Fuck Mahomes, his shit stain brother, and his obnoxious bargain basement football wife.
2 - despite the 49ers beating us in the SB a few years ago, it's hard for me to root against them.
...oh wait, we never lost to them in the SB? We lost to the Eagles?
What the fuck is wrong with some of you people?
Feel the same way.I dunno why, but the 6 rings thing doesn’t mean much to me. The Patriot legacy is having 2 legitimate 3 ring dynasties and competing the entire time in between. If some other team gets their 6th or 7th 40 or 50 years after the first one, it’s different.
And on the complete flipside, that they were a joke for such a long time, that they lost 07, that Brady went elsewhere and immediately won - those things all pretty much hurt the best franchise ever argument anyways. If the 9ers get 6 with their third string QB and an insanely fun to watch collection of skill guys, so be it imo. Not knocking anyone who feels differently, just the way I look at it.
