Super Bowl titles by division:

NFC East: 13 (Cowboys 5, Giants 4, Redskins/Commanders 3, Eagles 1)
AFC East: 9 (Pats 6, Dolphins 2, Jets 1)
AFC West: 8 (Broncos 3, Raiders 3, Chiefs 2)
AFC North: 8 (Steelers 6, Ravens 2)
NFC North: 5 (Packers 4 Bears 1)
NFC South: 3 (Bucs 2, Saints 1)
AFC South: 2 (Colts 2)

Either the NFC East (Philly), NFC West (SF), AFC North (Cincy), or AFC West (KC) will add to that this year.
NFC West: 8 (SF 5, Rams 2, Seahawks 1) . So 12 teams have never won it; and 4 teams have yet to get there.

I really wonder how Mahomes will feel. Unless he needs to have his foot amputated, I'm pretty sure he'll give it a go. But sometimes adrenaline can allow you to play through a severe sprain, and then in the next few days the real pain begins.
Easier said than done, but, Jesus Christ; if you're Cinci; shouldn't you be trying to minimize Kelce and force the other guys to beat you?

I dunno why, but the 6 rings thing doesn’t mean much to me. The Patriot legacy is having 2 legitimate 3 ring dynasties and competing the entire time in between. If some other team gets their 6th or 7th 40 or 50 years after the first one, it’s different.

And on the complete flipside, that they were a joke for such a long time, that they lost 07, that Brady went elsewhere and immediately won - those things all pretty much hurt the best franchise ever argument anyways. If the 9ers get 6 with their third string QB and an insanely fun to watch collection of skill guys, so be it imo. Not knocking anyone who feels differently, just the way I look at it.
Yeah, a franchise tying the Pats 6 rings doesn't bother me at all. There's been no more impressive era of pro football than Brady/Belichick 2001-2018. The 49ers adding to a franchise total that spans 42 years, multiple coaches and multiple QBs isn't remotely the same thing. Maybe I'll care when the Pats win one post-Brady/BB and it becomes more of a 'totality of the franchise' thing like the Celtics and Lakers.

Still, the Bengals are easily the least objectionable winner of the 4.

People hate the Eagles because they had the audacity to go 1-1 against us in the Super Bowl or is there another reason?

The Pats have an amazing record that no team in NFL history will equal. 18 years of sustained competitiveness and championship potential with 1 coach and 1 QB.

San Francisco, on the other hand has taken 3 completely differently built teams (with 3 coaches) to the Super Bowl, but only one iteration has won.
  • The late 80's Bill Walsh then George Seifert teams. (I consider the 1994 team part of this, YMMV)
  • The Jim Harbaugh era (Alex Smith-Colin Kaepernick QBs)- 3 NFCCG 1 Superbowl loss)
  • The Kyle Shanahan era (Jimmy G-Purdy QBs) so far, 3 NFCCG 1 Superbowl loss--1 result TBA
Rootin hard for the 9ers here and I don't think reaching 6 Lombardis affects the Pats legacy in any way.

I didn’t realize that SF has the most conference championship appearances in the league at 17. Steelers 16. Pats 15. Cowboys 14.

Gimpy, nearly immobile Mahomes can still throw, but he's WAY less dangerous and WAY less likely to be able to buy time to get the ball to his receivers downfield. His WR corps is fine, but it's nothing special.

But Kelce....IS special. Cincy should be double teaming him every time he goes out for a pass. You don't need to worry about Mahomes running now (not to say he won't do it but it won't be part of the game plan). Shut down Kelce with a double team, rush the QB with heavy pressure, and make a nearly immobile Mahomes hit his pretty good but not great WR corps make some contested catches downfield. That's what my game plan would be. I don't know that that's how Cincy will play it or, if they do, if they can pull it off successfully.

Mahomes is still going to make some plays, somehow.

He will make plays, but I think we’ll see a few “huh?” ducks and bad misses out of him. His off schedule, off platform stuff will be hampered considerably. So the O-line and quick throws will be huge. I think Cin will play a lot of man to man and, as you say, force the WRs to beat them.
