So with this and Shark, can we get rid of the stupid Sale trade proposals?

Heyman says it's 4/46, whew. I'll change the subject line.

He's married to a good friend and one of the sweetest girls I know.  Good for him/them.

That's a lot of money to be paying to a closer with less than 50 career saves who will be in his thirties on the home opener, for a team with so few 8th inning leads the year before.

Agreed. Someone should keep an eye on Mr. Ilitch for a few days.

And you know what? The West looks like a bitch, too. The Mariners are pulling out all the stops, Texas should at least be healthier, I don't know what the hell to think about the As, but for all their faults, the Angels are pretty good.

The East might just be the easy division even with the Sox spending a fuckton, and the Jays getting all whatever they're getting.

Am pleased to see a likeable guy leave the Yankees.  Always prefer to see them loaded up with A-Rods and Burnetts, more than Robertsons and Grandersons.

I think the Yankees did well to swap out Robertson for a Miller/Betances back end.

Meaningless.

I've been a fan of his since he came up. There isn't one single red flag with Robertson.  It's a solid deal for a great reliever.

A meaningless stat.  He's been one of the most consistently good relievers for the last six years.  Even if you want to put stock in the save stat, he accumulated 80% of his saves in his first and only season as a closer, doing so in a high pressure market with the added burden of having to follow the "Greatest Closer Ever"(R)...you know, the primary reason he didn't accumulate many saves prior to 2014.

Andrew Miller just got 4/36 and he's not even a "closer".  Robertson has been better for longer, he rightly should get paid more.

The White Sox are making interesting moves. Sale/Shark/Quintana is a solid Top 3, and Robertson solidifies a bullpen that was a dumpster fire for the entirety of last season.

As for the offense, though, did you know that Jose Abreu led the team in Avg, 2B, HR, RBI, OBP, and hits? In fact, he's the only guy on the team with an OPS above .763 in 2014.

Except that he's short. Miller is tall. The contract would be easier to justify if Robertson were tall.

(But it's nice to see a Tuscaloosa kid get paid.)
