I have an affinity for Ipswich Town, since my family lived in Ipswich for a couple hundred years, before leaving in the mid 1600s and settling in Ipswich, MA (what are the odds?). Kind of a reach for me to really feel a kinship with present day East Anglians, but I try.

As far as other Prem teams, I've watched hundreds of matches over the last 8 or 9 years, and still don't have one team I can really say I live and die with. All I want is for someone to beat United.

I have a suspicion  that , if "Anybody But Manchester United" was a team, it would lead the pack by a huge margin.

Arsenal. Mostly because of "The Tuesday Club" podcast and because who doesn't want something to be angry about at 10am on a Saturday?

Not claiming to be knowledgeable about footie in any way.

I find myself much more infuriated at Arsenal l, than any of the big 4 Boston teams, and I love them.

Choosing one, it would be Everton.  I am admittedly a relatively late comer to them, having adopted them only about 3 or so years ago.

In my adolescence / early adulthood it was Bolton, but I admittedly follow them less now that they are out of the PL.  Not that they were a whole lot of fun to follow when they were in the PL.

When I was younger, I picked Liverpool as my EPL team because of the Beatles.  A few years later I found out Paul was an Everton supporter.  Oh well.  Go Reds!

Spurs is the actual answer.

It was almost Crystal Palace, I like their whole deal a lot, but me diving into soccer-watching coincided with the months between Pulis and Pardew and I just couldn't hop onto a ship that appeared as if it was on fire.

I'm also spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about Sunderland right now, got sucked in there after the Yedlin loan and have gotten fascinated by the dysfunction to the point where I am regularly reading the sports section of the Sunderland Echo.

Meeting Place, Canada
Newcastle.

I also have a distinct soft spot for AFC Wimbledon, It's such a great story and I need something positive in my football fandom. Way back before they were in the Football League I would recreate them in the FIFA creation studio and bring them up to the Premier League. Good on EA for always having the shield even though they weren't in the game

I went through a Nick Hornby reading phase, so Arsenal.  Not proud of why, but what are you gonna do?  Better than because I had their pajamas or something.  That said, I don't have allegiances and rival hatred for BPL teams like I do for US sports -- I'll also root for Everton so long as Howard is there maybe thereafter, and my wife has a connection to Sunderland so I also am partial to them, at least when not managed by a fascist.

All the rest of my European favorite teams are kind of random -- with far less basis than Nick Hornby.  In Spain, I'll usually root for Real Madrid to lose, and I find Los Leones kind of compelling -- I respect how well they do given their self-imposed roster restrictions, but also like to ruminate about whether it's racist.  Palermo in Italy, but I'll support Juve and the Rossoneri over anyone else among the biggest clubs.  I liked Dortmund during the Klopp era, but now don't care much about the Budesliga.  The only thing I know about Ligue 1 is that I can often find a game to watch on beIN sports when there's no other games on, but I have trouble imagining I'll care much about French football once Zlatan retires.

Oregon is one of my favorite places to visit in the US, and I liked the Beavers back when they played in the Timbers' current stadium.  Plus they really helped move along the European vibe for MLS games in their park, so I guess all other things equal I root for the Timbers in MLS.

Edit:  Sorry, didn't really pay attention to the fact that we've got a "pick one" sensibility happening.  Arsenal.

Los Angeles
Liverpool here as well.

edit (a couple days later) to expand: Got into them through FIFA 01. Had friends who already claimed Man U (via Roy Keane's place on the Irish national team) and Arsenal (due to Fever Pitch). I looked through the other teams that could hang with those two in the game, and figured that my Irish ancestors had connections to that port city. Plus the Beatles, as someone else said. Got on board then and have stuck with them ever since. My one trip to England since then was during the summer, so no games, but I took a tour of Anfield which was wonderful.

For other teams, I went to one of the first Revolution games down in Foxboro and always pull for them, though most of my MLS energy is spent following Titan's posts in the thread here. And now living right outside downtown L.A., I might get on board with LAFC if the 'founding member' season ticket prices are reasonable.

There are old Newcastle threads in here that are mostly me talking to myself, so that's the easy answer. Celtic is 1(b).

Weirdly, my new brother-in-law grew up in some sort of abandoned slag heap near Newcastle and has been a die-hard since birth, so I am now a NUFC supporter by both affinity and family.

Boxborough MA
Liverpool. Brought into the fold by a Liverpool native friend I visited there in 1998. I returned the favor by turning him into a diehard Red Sox fan.

Chelsea. I was a casual soccer fan and they became my team when they beat Barcelona in the 2012 Champions League.

It's been an excellent run since then, until the last two months or so.

Arsenal starting in about 2007.

I'm also partial to River Plate in Argentina, but coverage is a bit hard not speaking Spanish.
