It doesn't read right. No one would say 'the $8 you spend is worth the taste of the hamburger.'

Actually, nice work Van Everyman.

The tweet you posted in the second part of a tweet response. If you took the time to read both parts together, you'd realize what he was saying

We realize what he's saying, he's just saying it badly.

Which reads better:

"The Super Bowl made all that deflategate crap worth it."

or

"That deflategate crap was worth the Super Bowl win."

He has a follow-up interview with Roger where he asks the hard-hitting questions we all want to know--Roger's opinions on the Wildcats losing, Rogers World Series picks, and what the commish thinks about all the hullabaloo in Indiana.

e. Mike Krzyzewski was hired to coach Duke on March 18, 1980—six days after I was hired to cover Xavier basketball and the Reds for the Cincinnati EnquirerWhat a long strange trip it’s been.
Day 73.
Ted Wells still studying Pats.
I mean, come on now.

oh my god he's wrapping himself in the flag with special forces hero worship bullshit.

This is getting, like, unfunny. I'm beginning to really dislike this guy. And I mean no disrespect to anyone who served, but with his self-importance by association:

The NFL’s Most Improbable Prospect Nate Boyer is a 34-year-old long-snapper with a football dream and a life story made for Hollywood. Meet the Green Beret training voraciously for his NFL opportunity, plus thoughts on the first female ref, hidden draft nuggets and more

Before I get to one of the most amazing subjects of any Monday Morning Quarterback column in the 18 years I’ve been writing it—so please do not stray—a paean to baseball’s Opening Day, sort of, from one of its brightest stars.

This isn't exactly the journalistic equivalent of clergy pretending to be ex-special forces to gain cred with their congregations... but it's arguably lamer, if more honest. I mean, he led with mentioning his column! He rendered the guy a subject of MMQB.

Yes, it's technically correct. But it's an incredibly obnoxious way to present it--me first as always.

King asking the guy how many people he killed is super creepy.  And so Peter King.

Yeah, I was going to post that but I'm still trying to process that. Like, you're not supposed to do that.

And, actually, kinda a lot in that piece is super creepy. As in the spec-ops fanboyism SHOULD be the creepiest part, but it's not...

Forgive because I will not give this guy clicks, but do I understand correctly that the do not miss item in today's column was an old story that had already been reported by every other media outlet three months ago?

Is that it?

God he's such a flaming asshole.  "If it is, my apologies."  Just fucking apologize instead of trying to question whether you really need to do so.

Wants to know what he should do beyond an apology. I'm thinking that maybe I'll ask him to tweet link to PTSD awareness charity.

EDIT: And, in perfect Peter King-ness, he doesn't follow me so I can't reply with DM.

Remember, he's a JOURNALIST. He has to remain skeptical. Just because someone told him that asking a vet about how many people they've killed is "bad form" doesn't mean it's TRUE.

However, if, after his in-depth investigation into the matter, he should decide to validate this cockamamie idea that asking someone how many people they've killed is offensive is TRUE, then he will apologize.

So, first he does this:

Peter KingVerified account ‏@SI_PeterKing
Kudos to @DanWetzel for his tremendous story on @NateBoyer37. He did his long before what I wrote. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-unlikely-story-of-a-long-snapping-green-beret-with-an-nfl-dream-022552855-ncaaf.html …?

But, 11 minutes later, he can't help himself

Lunch reading for today. The most improbable draft prospect I’ve encountered in 31 years, plus @Trouty20 cameo. http://mmqb.si.com/2015/04/06/nate-boyer-long-snapper-green-beret-nfl-draft/ …

Link him to this thread and have him read it start to finish

Edit: or have him link this thread in a tweet

So he followed me and sent another DM. I asked him to tweet a link to PTSDUSA.org and maybe tweet out their twitter handle.

Let's see what happens.

You should told him to donate a paycheck to them.

Or use some of his awesome privilege to take a few wounded vets to some games on his dime, maybe introduce them to some of their favorite football players.

Or suck start a shotgun.

One of those three.

This is especially rich after he made sure the world knew how innovative MMQB was for doing player columns long before Jeter's site existed.

He told me that when he went on a USO trip back in 2008 with some NFL guys he met a bunch of Army Rangers and asked all of them that question and no one said anything about it being sensitive.

How is it possible that King could give an explanation that is even more fucked up than the original story?

He's going to be crucified for this.  Happily, this will make the world a better place.

KSK weighs in:

http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2015/04/peter-king-would-like-to-know-how-many-people-a-long-snapper-has-killed.html

King gives us this (about the female official):
Thomas, married with three children, became a finalist for an NFL job in 2013, was a finalist again last year, and this year, with eight new officials being hired, was finally one of the new officials elevated.

Before he gives us this:
Thomas is a pharmaceutical sales representative from Mississippi who first worked a college game in 2007.

And then this:

She has worked Indianapolis and New Orleans training-camp practices, and some other NFL teams’ offseason practices. When she has worked, she stuffs her blonde ponytail under her hat and looks like any other official. She’ll be closely watched, to be sure. But those who have watched her say one of the reasons she’s making this jump is because she doesn’t get flustered on the field and is extremely good with the rules.

Because those other officials are alwayas flusterated and aren't very good with the rules.

The condescension is so thick it leaves a residue.

It's so Peter King that he breathlessly Tweets out a teaser last night that today's MMQB can't be missed, and by noon he's already faux-apologizing for something that was in the column.

Oh crap Petey you did it again. Let's see... Hey random guy who is criticizing me, give me advise on navigating these turbulent waters.

Maybe post a link to a charity.

Done and done. Go out of another jam. Self... you deserve a reward.

[Pending criticism]

Stupid stupid stupid. You have to say you donated something!

King just sent me another DM. He's getting salty.

"Problem with how column was viewed: 1 question some found offensive ruined 2200-word story. Social media at its finest"
