The weird subtext of the Gronk usaa commercials is Gronk despite so badly wanting usaa insurance never even considers actually serving his country, despite his physical gifts.

Also, I did finally decide to sign up for usaa.
I've seen him on defense.

Be awesome if TB scored two more and two 2 point conversions, so that Dallas won it on Maher’s extra point.

Also exposing that no one in his family served. It’s so weird in many ways.

The 718
Maher hit 9 FGs of 50 yards or more and I think he has the most 60 yard field goals by a kicker in NFL history. He was legitimately awesome this year. But he missed his last XP last week, his only kick, and it must have fucked with his head.

ESPN almost missed the XP. Lol.
This is where we have to trot out the cliche about how the great players make the routine plays, not the extraordinary ones.

The team defending the conversion can score two points, if it takes away the ball and scores it into the attacking team's end zone, 98 yards away.
Yes. Devastating potential.

So a 46-year-old Brady is going to learn a brand new offensive system? Somehow I doubt that.
I don’t think he can walk away. Something is off with him in that regard. He’ll come back. He might “retire” again but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t under center for someone in September.

He might be playing in the USFL at 52.

He sorta screams “can’t be alone with his own thoughts” without something like football at this point.

He can’t leave after that. Sure it’s a sunk cost, but you can’t lose your marriage for a first round exit.

Whenever the time comes as his active time as a starter, it wouldn’t surprise me if he hangs on for an extra couple years as a backup like Warren Moon did. I really think he wants Blanda’s age record.

I don’t think he’ll do the retire/unretire thing again. I feel pretty confident he’ll come back for at least one more after a period of silence and back channeling. I don’t feel as confident that that year will be successful.

There’s always Josh.

Plus, he already knows a guy in the QB room.
Brady is taking his talents to the Vegas strip to reunite with Stid the Kid?

My theory was that if the Bucs had crappped out in 2020, Tom had Josh on speed dial, ready to bring him in. This past offseason, when Brady had Arians eliminated, was the year to do it but instead he tried to force that Payton/Miami thing to happen.

I think he goes to Vegas. But not to rejoin Stidham.

The Stidham point was tongue in cheek. He’d go there to take his job.

Brady is like a more maniacal version of Jordan. I get the sense his whole identity now is being ‘the guy who still plays great and is old and won’t retire’. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t come back next season. I’m not sure he knows what else to do.

Hell, I suspect part of the reason he took the broadcasting gig is that it irks him that Peyton, Eli and Romo have gotten so much praise. Another challenge, he thinks he can be better.

Brady led the league in completions and attempts this year, accumulating 4,694 passing yards, with 25 td and 9 int. Not remotely a great year for him, it's still a performance that a lot of teams would have loved to have had from their QBs - our team here in New England included.

He can obviously still play in this league at a starting level. He may not be able to carry a team on his back anymore, but he can still play. Him on SF would be unreal (though Purdy seems to be a perfect fit there). I think him in Vegas would be pretty good too. Good weapons, Josh there.

I don't think he retires from this. It'll be a year removed from his divorce, when being a single man is more normal. That, I'm sure, impacted him in a major way.

Eh, he had a 90.7 rating this year, 18th in the league. He was a little better than Derek Carr (86.3), not even close to as good as Tua (who was best in the league), Jimmy G, Purdy, etc.

I am sure he can find a starting job somewhere but feels like something that both sides might regret.

Then again, it’s Tom Brady, and I wouldn’t bet against him proving people wrong again…but it’s gotta end eventually.

Here
Tampa carries 36 mil in dead money for him next year. Obviously, it was worth it, but man they’re gonna suck again. Evans might be a trade target for Bill.

Evans looks like a guy with one or two more good years. I wouldn’t really want to expend many assets for him. My guess is that he ends up with Brady in LV, Miami, Tenn or wherever.

Having watched every game TB has played since Tom got there, I disagree. Something was off with them this year. At least, 3-4 times a game, they weren't even close to being on the same page on routes, etc.

I like Evans, he's a truly gifted receiver, especially in 1on1 and can make defenses look stupid. But I don't think he's a "smart" receiver. I don't think he reads defenses that well and regularly makes the wrong decisions on option routes. He's like the opposite of a guy like Davante Adams in that respect.

It's also why even though I've made a million arguments for a #1 receiver here in New England, Evans wouldn't be my choice. Mac needs guys at this stage in his career that he can count on being in the right spot. Evans, by virtue of who he is, will generate a lot of attention from a defense, opening things up elsewhere, but I don't think that's enough to pay what he's going to command.

I also always worry about a guy that's played in the easiest passing division in football from a weather standpoint (Tampa, Carolina, New Orleans dome, Altanta dome). A quick glance of his game logs, and I'm not sure he's even played a full hand's worth of games in sub 50 degree weather, and up until TB got there, he was playing on teams that were behind and in shootouts all the time (I mean, Jameis Winston threw for 5,100 yards in one of those seasons and the team went 7-9).
