I don't have an X's and O's background, so please feel free to correct me if I'm missing something or am just plain wrong.  Would jamming all the receivers at the line leave the defense totally exposed to rub/pick routes that small, quick WRs in bunch formations (like Edelman and Amendola) would excel at?

An NFL player getting media attention for saying guns blazing and that a super model is beautiful is a strange turn of events.

If people want Hardy banished for what he did, I get and agree with that. I don't quite get this other stuff. Don't most people on this board love KG? Isn't what he said to Melo magnitudes of order worse?

Did KG have a history of violence towards women including tossing one onto a pile of guns?

If you want Hardy gone for that crime, I agree with you.

Anyway, Hardy has a lot of work to do to get to KG's level

KG:  Game 7, man. This is it. This is all the marbles. I'm sittin in the house, I'm loadin' up the pump. I'm loadin' up the Uzi, I got a couple M-16s, couple nines, got a couple joints with some silencers on 'em, I'm just loadin up clips. Got a couple grenades, couple missile launchers, with, you know, a couple missiles. I'm ready for war.

Does it ultimately matter? If Romo had said what Hardy said, he'd rightfully get blasted, too. Hardy's background adds a bit extra fuel to the fire, but it in no way is the only reason what he said was not ok.

Just because he wears your laundry doesn't mean you should look the other way because he doesn't have a known history of violence towards women.

Well, I was talking more about the "guns blazing" line but point taken on the KG stuff.

I figured the reference to KG meant we were talking about the "guns blazin" comment. The Giselle comment does need that little extra to go from inappropriate to creepy.

Wow, we heard the Gisele comments in very different ways. I found them to be incredibly obnoxious comments that were  made even more striking because they were basically the first words he chose to let out of his mouth after his suspension for abusing a woman ended.  I did not read that as him saying that a supermodel is beautiful.  I thought it was creepy and crossing a line to talk to the media in a provocative manner about an opponent's wife/sister/wife's friends.

""I love seeing Tom Brady," "He's cool as crap. You seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game. [I hope] all her friends come to the game.""

I don't know, I'm just not that "creeped out" about a 27 year old guy wanting beautiful women to come watch him play ball.

Yeah.  I'm with luckiestman here.  It actually sounded to me like something Gronk might say. That said, I can see where someone with Hardy's history doesn't get the latitude that someone like Gronk might for the same comment.

I haven't seen anyone saying "banished".  I've seen plenty of people saying Hardy is a douche. He exhibits a nearly complete inability to understand the seriousness of his position. I have no interest in being PC Principal but it's striking - if not downright galling - that no one in his life has been able to coach up the man's media ineptitude.

He's talking about an opponent's wife and sister in law as a way to get under his skin.  His job is to sack Brady.  It's very clearly "I want your wife to watch me get to you and get turned on."  He's using Giselle - who is the most successful person ever in her field - as a prop in some macho half-assed head game.  If you can't see how that's an issue - particularly coming from someone with his history toward women - have another think.

Admittedly from limited occurrences, but Gronk seems to be more careful about what he says lately with a mike in his face.

I will predict that the best-case scenario for Hardy is that this doesn't work.  The more likely outcome is that it backfires miserably and LGBT scores a touchdown directly on his face or something.

Calling a foul on "macho" when talking about football should have to be followed with Doc Holliday's quote from tombstone "apparently my hypocrisy knows no bounds"

If you don't like machismo, I think T. Brady fandom can't be in your wheelhouse. I mean what could be more macho than than marrying the most successful super model ever "Winners go home and fuck the prom queen"

I come down like this: If he's just trying to fuck with an opponent: tale as old as time.

If he's just saying: wow, fucking Tom Brady, Holy shit, 4 superbowls and married the most famous super model ever, I hope he brings all those ladies to the game to watch me. I don't have a problem with that either.

Do you think Giselle, who's done more in life than a dozen Greg Hardy's, likes being reduced to a pawn in a high school level game of shit talking?

I think we have different definitions of macho, or are using them different here, if marrying a beautiful woman is equated with Hardy's words and deeds.

And, dude, the expression is tailors old as time.  Like how your tailor is probably some really old guy from Italy or the Czech Republic.  Not tales.  That makes no sense.

I concede your first point because I don't know Giselle. But I don't see why you bring up her success. Are you implying that what Hardy said would be fine if she was a kept wife (not really term I'm looking for but can't think of something better).

No, I'm not implying that.  It just goes to his cluelessness that he's objectifying her.

Like there's anything racist about Rocky III, a touching tail of a white man who has lost his way being redeemed by the love of a kindly African American who teaches Rocky about soul and heart.  Taylor old as time.

I can see how you are reading it that way, Marciano.  But that is not the way I took it all.  For me, the subtext was something more like what luckiestman suggested.  Something alone the lines of:  "TB is cool.  His wife is incredibly beautiful.  I bet she has a beautiful sister.  And beautiful friends.  I hope they all come so I can look at all that beauty."

I don't think it was trying to get under his skin.  But I can see your point.

I didn't read it the way Marciano did either, but either way it isn't a particularly good look for Hardy coming off of his incident.

Who the fuck knows.  It's Greg Hardy, not exactly a Rhodes Scholar.  I'm not exactly sure why any of us (me included) have wasted any time on this!

To get back on topic, who do we think will be the in actives this week as all will be healthy scratches.  Here's my guess:
  1. Tre Jackson
  2. Geneo Grissson
  3. Khyri Thornton
  4. Trey Flowers
  5. Rufus Johnson
  6. Justin Coleman
  7. Jordan Richards
  8. Tavon Wilson

For the Cowboys, as mentioned upthread right before the Hardy hijack, Sean Lee will be playing.

And, in news that will cause Greg29 and myself to jump for joy, Matt Cassell will be active. This article hints that they won't also activate Kellen Moore, but it doesn't say so definitively:

The Cowboys rarely carry three quarterbacks on their 46-man game-day roster.

I think Kline starts at RG (he seems to be moving ahead of Jackson).  Coleman may be the nickel back.

So yeah, Lee is kind of a big deal. With his coverage ability, and Hardy boosting the pass rush, I wonder if they'll stay away from the blitz altogether.

I don't see this as a walkover at all.

Tough to project who sits for Wendell.  I bet there will still be a rotation of sorts as there has been for the last 3 weeks.  I originally had Shaq Mason out, but settled on Kline.  I'd like to see a Solder-Jackson-Andrews-Wendell-Seabass combo and see how that works.

The question with Hardy is what kind of condition he is in.  He hasn't played all season and it takes a while to get into game shape.  He may only be on the field for a limited number of snaps.

Apparently they went Solder-Mason-Wendell-Kline-Vollmer at practice a bunch.  You'd expect Andrews to stay active.  I suspect they move guys in and out for a few more weeks before settling on their five.

EDIT: Although obviously this is all total guess work and there are about 20 different combos at the interior that you could see this weekend.

The inclusion of Lee definitely makes the front seven much stronger. As I mentioned before - not sure if it stayed in the Cowboys thread or got moved here - a linebacking corps of Hitchens-McClain-Lee is rather strong. Though I do worry about McClain in pass coverage, since that's not exactly his strong suit and I'll suspect the Pats will want to use the middle of the field with Gronkowski and Amendola/Edelman.

As for Hardy, I wouldn't expect him to play a ton (he also didn't play much last season) but it will allow Marinelli to rotate the defensive line a bit more. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Mincey and Lawrence start at the ends.

What I have learned from this page of the thread- some of the posters here have a very very literal take on simplistic trash talk. Does Marciano need to explain the KG Honey Nut Cheerios reference too? If Hardy gets a sack he's going to be screaming much more dirty compliments about Giselle's lady parts in Brady's ear, I'd wager.

Jones is just a caricature of a robber baron at this point. What happened to the women who were pressing charges against him last year?

Do tailors fix holes in a sense of skepticism?

It's like you didn't even realize that Nolan's real complaint wasn't about Hardy but about the league and the reporters.

That's not what I got from his post at all. Wasn't he responding to the posters in this thread who expressed their righteous indignation over Hardy's comments? He didn't mention Nolan once.

Side note: I disagree with the notion that Katie's piece wasn't about Hardy. It wasn't only about Hardy. Yes, she railed against the league and the media, but it is unmistakeable that she was also taking down Hardy before she got to those targets.

I feel like this will probably be a competitive game. If I didn't know that the Pats don't fall for this kind of stuff, I'd be worried about them reading the hype and buying into the "annihilation" crap.
