Sounds like my time in Washington Heights might have overlapped with yours. We were up there from 1990 to August 2005, the last 13 years on Bennett at 190th Street. When we first moved up there, Manny was starting to get noticed in high school.
I think I got there in July of 05? That's crazy, I was right around the corner on 192nd & Broadway. In fact if you were in the building on the northeast corner my friend lived there. I worked over by where Manny played Little League for a while too.

Machado seems a lot more of a douche than I remember but maybe playing for the shitebirds just kept him irrelevant. I predict Puigs enthusiasm will very quickly cross the line into douchebaggery as machado spreads his douchebag attitude there

Should have another familiarity advantage with Cora facing the Dodgers again.

Pretty crazy that this was Cora's path last season:
Beat Sox in 4
Beat Yankees in 7
Beat Dodgers in 7

Three Lefty starters who feature good breaking pitches are an issue, basically neutralizes Moreland and JBJ. My guess is JBJ sits versus Hill or Kershaw.

Interesting that Kershaw has had a reverse split the past two seasons. Hill had no split this season and a big reverse split last season.

Again, kudos to the great pickup of Steve Pearce, who has a definite platoon split, hitting lefties better than righties. I assume Pearce starts against the lefties.

Roberts randomly being the bench player that gets the focus during the AB is great here -- but it should be noted that the focus move done by the cameraman in CF before the 18th pitch (starting at 3:35) is the most intentionally artistic shot I've ever seen during a live sporting event.

JBJ will be out there for his defense and batting 9th (8th in NL), every game.
I highly doubt this will be the case.

Edit:I guess I should add some actual content. JDM won't sit and I doubt Mookie starts at 2nd though I suppose he could end up there after a double switch. If both of those things are true then for JBJ to start all three potential games in LA then Benny would need to sit all three games and I don't see that happening.

If Wright is good to go, how can Workman stay on the roster for the WS?

Gee, posting tweets is tricky.

That's really fantastic....thanks so much for pointing it out, I wouldn't have noticed or appreciated it otherwise.

White home jerseys, please. Those red shirts need to be stored away until the first Friday home game next season.

Shows how important composition is, with the rack focused being perfectly timed.

Now that you guys made me watch it for the third time, I have to say that I can't work up any hatred for the Dodgers and their fan base. That's wonderful, and, as everyone knows, Vin Scully brought so much to the party.

The cradle of the game.
Early call for Boston weather Tues., 8pm: Showers ending, 47F. dropping to 44 by 11pm.

A quick check shows LA hasn’t played an inning cooler than 60 degrees since maybe April 20th in Washington. Then again, doesn’t look like the Sox have played in the chill since April either.

Either way, I love it when players from warm weather cities bundle up for games in Boston. Looking forward to watching Puig in his powder blue hoodie chasing a ball around the RF warning track.

Per today's Globe:

An MLB Scout's View of the Red Sox-Dodgers World Series

"Jerks” is how I describe extreme pull hitters. They look to jerk pitches out of the ballpark, and are not really trying to use the whole playing field. Most of the Dodgers hitters have that approach, and they are quite good at it, having led the NL in home runs as well as runs, despite finishing eighth in team batting average.

So if the Red Sox are to beat Los Angeles, they will have to shut down those pull hitters...

The Dodgers are a much better offensive team against righthanded pitching than left...
Out of the box question:

Do you consider a 5-man rotation with (the hypothetically good) Rodriguez back in the mix? (He obviously stinks rotting in the pen) This obviously isn't even a fantasy exercise if the Sox are down 1-3.

Tuesday - Sale
Wednesday - Price

Friday - Eovaldi
Saturday - Porcello
Sunday - Rodriguez

Tuesday - Sale (6-days rest)
Wednesday - Price (6-days rest)

I know, everything depends on series count and whether or not Rodriguez really sucks versus giving Sale and Price an extra day. Of course, it could also rain...

Red Sox played in that kind of weather just last week. I was at game one of the ALCS and it was definitely low-mid 40s by the middle innings. A few of us had a good chuckle at how bundled up some of the Astros were.
