After NBA Commissioner Silver's hint last week that the NBA could play a regular season game in Paris, Guershon Yabusele got quite excited. He's from the town of Dreux, which is about 50 miles west of Paris

...and about 20 miles south-east of the air base I spent three years at in the early '60s. Dreux at one point was an active U.S. air base and it also had an American High School for the children of military personnel. After it closed as an active air field it became an auxilliary field to my base, handling overflow of aircraft and personel when there were large operations and I was assigned there on temporary duty on occasion.

Yabusele may not have to dream about playing in France. In fact, at this pace he may even beat the NBA there. ;)

Yeah I came here hoping to learn how Danny had somehow acquired some cap space to stay under the luxury tax, by turning Guerschon into a pile of magic beans or something.

In ESPN.com's ranking of the top players in EuroBasket 2022, our guy gets mentioned:

17. Guerschon Yabusele, France
Selected 16th in the 2016 NBA draft, Yabusele underperformed for the Boston Celtics, playing just 547 minutes before being waived. He has since turned his career around, becoming arguably the best offensive player in the EuroLeague for Real Madrid: a 40% 3-point shooter who is also nearly unstoppable in the paint.
Yabusele has garnered significant NBA interest but elected to stay in Spain, but at 26 years old, he likely won't stop getting offers considering how versatile he is offensively. A strong showing at EuroBasket could accelerate interest around the league, providing an excellent platform for him against NBA-level competition.

The finals will have five ex-Celtics (Fournier, Poirier, and Yabusele for France; Schroder and Theis for Germany).
