I could see a scenario where Betances is included in the package going. I'm a bit scared though of what we're giving away, what we could be receiving is nothing to sniff at.

Ew ew ew, I like all three of those Sox players in a vacuum but I am so scared about who is going the other way.

I hope it's not, I think Blake Rutherford is the most expendable guy. Mateo doesn't have a clearcut path to the bigs but he is such an exceptional athlete and still so young.

FWIW, Mateo and Miguel Andujar, two of my faves, are both still in their AA games currently.

To me, Florial's blossoming has made Rutherford expendable, Mateo is blocked too but can play any of 2B, SS, or CF, more flexible than Rutherford (probably LF/RF).

Kahnle is under team control through 2020, so that might be a longer term piece in place, ideally the 7th inning guy and they could trade Betances.

Is it prospect only? Maybe a decent hitting, cost controlled infielder like Torreyes could be a part of it, if they Yankees are eating Robertson money.

I can dream, can't I?

I would be grudgingly OK with one of the power SP prospects like Acevedo or Tate, although the long-term rotation remains NY's major issue.

I mean, NY has guys like Thairo Estrada who are totally overshadowed but great, they could bundle a bunch of those. Ian Clarkin, Tito Polo, McKinney, put Rutherford on top and hopefully that's enough.

A minor bright side is that this would almost certainly be the end of the Yankee Clippard, even if they did trade Betances.

The White Sox have a ton of top pitching prospects, they need position players. Rutherford, Solak, Estrada, Wilkerman Garcia is my guess. That would put a dent in NY's depth, but I could live with that deal.

For all three I think you're kidding yourself to believe that they aren't including one of the top guys. Torres is certainly too good to be included, but I don't think Rutherford as the headliner gets it done.

Why would they want Betances when they can just keep Kahnle who is cheaper for longer and having a much, much better season???

Definitely partly wishful thinking, but also Cashman has been pretty firm on this, and like someone just said on Twitter, Solak (2nd round pick last year) is outperforming WAS's current #6 prospect and he can't crack NY's top 20. NY's system is really deep, they can put six or eight guys off limits and still put together a very good package.

Frazier has minimal value, that is as much a favor to let him play a few months near his home in NJ as anything else. Robertson is good and under contract through 2018 but also CWS doesn't want to pay him anymore. Kahnle has the most value, as was said, but even he is 27 and has only broken through for half a season. Admittedly that half season he has a 15 K/9 (!!!) but still just half a season.

I'm not worried about Frazier or Torres, I am worried about Florial or Andujar or Mateo.

Also everyone loved loved loved Fowler before his disastrous injury including the White Sox, he could be the headliner maybe. If you're going to do The Process, you need to import some already injured guys. :)

Clarkin is on the fringe of making the 40 man because he is probably still a few years away, but he was a 1st round pick who has been great this year after coming back from surgery (surgeries?).

Grumpf!!!
He is still very young but Florial is better than him in every way, plus so many guys ahead of both of them still. Teams can only play two corner outfielders, Florial can play CF too.

Would have preferred to trade him for a Gray or Cole though if we are gonna deal him. Unless Cash turns around and deals Betances, which I have been advocating for a year now.

If he made this trade, which helps us this year, he's not done trying to get a starter. Using Betances as his chip makes a lot of sense now.

Not disagreeing with that, but maybe Cashman wants to have more slots to give his own young pitchers chances, worked pretty amazingly with Severino and Montgomery so far this year. If they got Cole or Gray, Tanaka opts in (about 50/50 now?), and CC gets a pretty well deserved one year deal, they have no slots for Adams, Sheffield, Acevedo, Littell, all guys who are already great in AA or AAA.

For reference, this would probably be my personal Yankee prospect list at this moment:

Gleyber Torres
Clint Frazier
Jorge Mateo
Estevan Florial
Chance Adams
Justus Sheffield
Miguel Andujar
Blake Rutherford
Tyler Wade
Domingo Acevedo

not listed: Kaprielian, Fowler (health), Abreu (too far away and hasn’t pitched much this year)

Rutherford is OPS'ing a 733 mark in the A level and he's headlining the package?
He was widely thought of as maybe the best high school hitter in the 2016 draft, he is still very young and is a top 50 prospect. They're not trading for Chris Sale.

No, they aren't getting Sale, but they are getting three quality players including two very good bullpen arms. I don't know what the hell Kahnle has done this year but his numbers are ridiculous and he's under team control for awhile.
We'll see who else NY gives up, but I would think the Yankees chief piece would be someone who's been lighting up a league.

You're cherrypicking a high school kid in his first full year of ball

Moving Frazier helps CWS at this point, rumors on Twitter they will then bring up Moncada.

Robertson and Kahnle are both solid, but again we're not talking Zach Britton. Rutherford doesn't even have to be put on a 40 man for a few years, he has a huge amount of value even with his meh year so far (and he has been heating up the last few weeks).

Seems pretty fair really and a deal the Yankees can make because of system depth.

Sox would have to put Groome in a deal to match, and this board would freak over that.
