Yes. If the only goal was to crown a winner and determine tour membership, sure it might be possible. But there are a massive number of logistical concerns related to fans, corporate sponsors, volunteers, etc. that make the idea untenable.Would it be that difficult to have moved this to another state, inland, on short notice?
I'll take the under now, I guess.Tiger will be back next week. Over/under on his scoring average Thurs-Fri? 76?
Well, he had to commit by Friday if he wanted to play and always had the option to withdraw after, so I wouldn't put too much into it. He probably was on the fence and decided it was a bad idea, for whatever reason. Maybe a bad round, maybe he tweaked something or maybe just nerves. (Never thought I'd say that about Tiger). He withdrew from Turkey citing that he owed the respect to the PGA for his return to be on Tour and he has the Bahamas event booked. I'd be shocked if he doesn't play that - he's the host and it's an 18 person field on a pretty easy course that he owns a house on.I guess the question is how bad a round did Tiger have this weekend. As on Friday he confirmed he would be playing and then on Monday he drops out of these tournaments.
I'm of the mind that if he is healthy he needs to get out there and play. I just don't think it is going to be easier for him if he waits for Torrey Pines. I guess currently he has one event scheduled still the first week of December in the Bahamas if he plays in that one.
Or tiger stripes with the black background. But it resembles claw marks! So original!
You don't have to for me.Should I spoil any updates?
Cool, i know this isn't really a game thread so didn't want to ruin anyone taping it. Drained his birdie putt on 8.You don't have to for me.
Yeah he didn't play a cut shot until I think the 8th or 9th hole today, was favoring a draw off the tee, which you didn't see him do a lot. Swing seems less violent and there's definitely still some rust - he chunked a chip on 9 and just blew a birdie putt about seven feet by the hole on twelve - but it's been encouraging. Frankly if he plays all four rounds and doesn't have a blow up at some point and finish way back in last place, I'll be pretty psyched. His swing is marketedly better. Full rotation through the ball and releasing the club. He will be able to move the ball both ways. He really struggled to draw the ball with his last swing
I can move the ball both ways off the tee as well... of course, I generally don't know which way it will go.His swing is marketedly better. Full rotation through the ball and releasing the club. He will be able to move the ball both ways. He really struggled to draw the ball with his last swing
There was definitely discussion of this post round and they showed some video of his last drive on 18 (yanked into water), where they pointed out he was having trouble timing the rotation of his lower and upper bodies. It may have been a throw away line/excuse, but they also noted this is the first adjustable driver he's ever used and he may need to tweak the settings as he settles in.It was fun to watch him again. 73 is disappointing given his first 8 holes, but probably about what you'd expect after a 15 month layoff. I wonder if he's ever had a round with 3 penalty drops before. It seemed like all of his misses were left. Not sure if it's rust or some swing mechanics, but at least it was a one way miss and perhaps something correctible as he plays more.
I was in the crowd at the final round of the US Open in 2006 at Winged Foot and Tim Herron was in last place. Because there was an odd number of players, he had the option of playing with a marker or by himself. He played alone and if memory serves, he finished in under two hours and was 9 or 10 holes ahead of the second twosome. (Shot a 77 and finished last.)Someone get Jeff Knox a flight to the Bahamas!!
I think I've read in the past that the player has the option of playing with a marker. Maybe Tiger just prefers to go alone? Twitter says he went solo for the final round of the Memorial in 2015 (shot a 74).
O/u on how quick his round is? 3 hours? Less?
I think it's fair to speculate that the answer is overwhelmingly likely to be "no."Rose has been battling back issues the past few months, leading to the w/d yesterday. Rose is a Foley guy and Tiger's back trouble started under Foley. Any connection to be made there?
