Yes if you’re just loud in public, it’s Disturbing the Peace or Disorderly Conduct. If its a loud threat directed at someone, its assault. Involves family, then its domestic assault. Key is there doesn’t appear to be any battery. Can you get arrested for a verbal altercation with no physical violence? Hard to believe the officers didn't just try to calm them down and move on.
That would be assault on grammar.Team statement includes "my understanding" phrase???
If you've read much from Bradford or heard him speak you should know that grammar and punctuation aren't strong suits for him.Team statement includes "my understanding" phrase??? Apparently that is Rob's understanding, but a little more punctuation would help a lot.
e.e. cummings, that would be battery. That would be assault on grammar.
Chapman was suspended without being arrested. There's going to be a suspension.Low bail. Assault with no battery. Misdemeanor. He’ll be at spring training.
Didn't the Chapman incident involve choking and guns?Chapman was suspended without being arrested. There's going to be a suspension.
I had to double check which forum I was in.I cant be the only one that thought this was about the comedian
Guess so. Chapman shot a gun in anger but no physical assault , which I consider a form of assault (worse than verbal) although he was not charged (Florida) . MLB threw the book at him though. Can you get arrested for a verbal altercation with no physical violence? Hard to believe the officers didn't just try to calm them down and move on.
This is appalling.Guess so. Chapman shot a gun in anger but no physical assault , which I consider a form of assault (worse than verbal) although he was not charged (Florida) . MLB threw the book at him though.
Man, my father and mother both went at it pretty good verbally. Fortunately folks had more sense in those days
His wife just reduced the family income by a good chunk. Not judging her since I don't know if her fear was legitimate or not. Doubt that will help their future together.
Ah well, when it rains it pours. What a crappy December. Ohtani, Stanton and now this
You honestly think things were any better ‘in those days’? I’m sure many a member here can attest to Dad taking his belt off when they were a kid. I luckily cannot, but corporal punishment and domestic abuse haven’t exactly gotten worse.Guess so. This is your takeaway? Really? His wife just reduced the family income by a good chunk.
You should hear his thoughts on Janay Rice. This is your takeaway? Really?
You should stop now. However I will say I thought when MLB introduced their policy on domestic abuse they were talking physical abuse. I cant believe anytime someone has an argument with their wife w/o a prior history of physical abuse that they risk suspension.
I recommend any young man who choses a MLB career to not marry till they retire
I'm not saying you are wrong, but the optics on this would be absolutely terrible right now.Low bail. Assault with no battery. Misdemeanor. He’ll be at spring training.
My first thought and it showed up as “Arrested for” on my mobile device. Figured it was another Hollywood groping/raping type deal. Lose lose, sucks all around. Putting aside the real life off field dimension, I’m glad there’s several months between now and spring training.I cant be the only one that thought this was about the comedian
You admittedly know nothing about the incident, but state that his wife destroyed their finances and their future together... not judging her though!!1!1!!His wife just reduced the family income by a good chunk. You're thinking of the Yucks Steven Wright. This is the Knucks Steven WrightI cant be the only one that thought this was about the comedian
Why do you care about the family's finances? Not that it's of any consequence, but I'm sure the bank account will stay in decent shape. You made a crap post. Just own it and move on instead of doubling down.Guess so. Chapman shot a gun in anger but no physical assault , which I consider a form of assault (worse than verbal) although he was not charged (Florida) . MLB threw the book at him though.

Did your mother ever feel compelled to call 911, and was she prevented from doing so?Guess so. Chapman shot a gun in anger but no physical assault , which I consider a form of assault (worse than verbal) although he was not charged (Florida) . MLB threw the book at him though.

I don't come to the Red Sox forum for your troglodyte views on domestic violence.People have arguments, they raise their voices. Sometimes they throw stuff (which Wright did not seem to do) . My Ma threw a bowl of spaghetti at my Dad during one argument. Nobody called 9/11. Life went on. Life can be tough sometimes, there is pressure and sometimes people get excited. But should a domestic argument without any physical abuse result in legal or employment discipline and loss of income? Not IMO.
Now as for this specific case, I already mentioned that I dont known what the situation is so cant judge one way or another. Maybe Wright has a history of abuse in which case the 9/11 call was perfectly justified and he should be suspended and charged. Maybe something else.
However I will say I thought when MLB introduced their policy on domestic abuse they were talking physical abuse. I cant believe anytime someone has an argument with their wife w/o a prior history of physical abuse that they risk suspension.

These posts are disgusting. Just own being a mysoginistic pig. Go back to the 1960s where this country was so “great”. Must be a 45 supporter. I agree. I changed my thought somewhat when it was reported he prevented the 911 call. If he ripped the phone from her hand that is a circumstance above just an argument. I can totally get why a professional athlete wouldn’t want this called in, but something elevated to the point where she felt like she needed to do that. I think he gets a short suspension if that’s the case.I'm not saying you are wrong, but the optics on this would be absolutely terrible right now.
The very fact that his wife felt it necessary to call 911 is a pretty terrible sign. The whole thing does not look good for Wright, although I'm glad it appears his wife was not physically harmed.I agree. I changed my thought somewhat when it was reported he prevented the 911 call. One of the reasons we have such an appallingly high rate of physical violence in domestic situations, and why we have a terrifyingly high rate of murder in domestic situations is that we do a terrible job of taking preventative measures in smaller incidents leading up to those tragic endpoints. The very fact that his wife felt it necessary to call 911 is a pretty terrible sign. The whole thing does not look good for Wright, although I'm glad it appears his wife was not physically harmed.
I think it was interrupting/trying to prevent the 911 call that most likely got him arrested. They have all of that in tape, right? Kind of hard to make that disappear. The very fact that his wife felt it necessary to call 911 is a pretty terrible sign. The whole thing does not look good for Wright, although I'm glad it appears his wife was not physically harmed.
Could have been neighbor that called. We don't know. The very fact that his wife felt it necessary to call 911 is a pretty terrible sign. The whole thing does not look good for Wright, although I'm glad it appears his wife was not physically harmed.
Best thing now to do is release him from the Boston Red Sox.One of the reasons we have such an appallingly high rate of physical violence in domestic situations, and why we have a terrifyingly high rate of murder in domestic situations is that we do a terrible job of taking preventative measures in smaller incidents leading up to those tragic endpoints.
There may be an over correction in moving to improve responses to these kinds of calls, but there is a difference between arrest and conviction, and if it leads to an overall improvement in how these situations play out (women are safer in general) I think it's worth some bumps in the road along the way.
Sorry for the V&N style post, but it seems relevant here.
Speaking of the "best thing to do now," can SoSH please grant MRBOSTONSPORTS his unconditional release?Best thing now to do is release him from the Boston Red Sox...
Cut him. Move on.
I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.I seen that coming. lol.
These are my first few days posting here and I don't know the culture,so I will stay out of these politically correct social justice warrior issues in the future.
I didn't join this board to discuss Huffington Post issues.
I will only talk pure baseball stuff in the future on this board.
Sign JD Martinez or Carlos Santana DD is you read this. lol.
Yes, family statement, which seems to be authored by wife says he never raised his hand to anyone."She took a beating..."? Where is that established?
I thought from Paul the best guess we have is they argued, and he took the phone away from her so she couldn't dial 911.
