It really pisses me off that the linesmen won;t even tell Bergeron what he's doing wrong in the dot. In what other league do the officials not tell you how you are violating the rules?
All true. But losing Krug makes already long odds that much worse. The Bruins made some effective adjustments between Game 3 and tonight. They neutralized Tampa’s aggressive forecheck by getting pucks up and out, they played much better in the neutral zone and took away Tampa’s speed game, and they kept the puck low in the offensive zone and made Tampa’s D work. They skated and hit.
Well, this is why they got Nick Holden. He’s a significant downgrade from Krug, but he played 19 minutes a game in the playoffs last year for the Rangers. He’s not an AHL guy. We’ll see what he’s got.All true. But losing Krug makes already long odds that much worse.
I don't think Krug is a game changer. He's been a turnover machine this series. With even officiating it's a 2-2 series. Find a way to win Sunday and go from there. All true. But losing Krug makes already long odds that much worse.
How quickly one forgets game 7 against Toronto.Maybe next year we'll have more than one line that can win a game for us.
I agree. If they win Game 5, they will be home for Game 6, and then anything can happen in a Game 7.
I felt Gionta was fine, but didn't get the stick away from Girardi at the end there. Donato deserves another game, as I felt he was dangerous all night, and played a solid game.
Krug looked like he broke his foot in half, but at least they have Holden. It's not over yet, even if they have long odds to win it. I'm sure Toronto fans were feeling like we were and they got to a Game 7.
I only saw the 3rd period and OT. Donato failed to go to the wall on the final play, instead just windmilling his stick trying to knock it out. Its what Pasta did when he was a rookie. Was he better than that the rest of the game?I agree.
This team deserves our loyalty and belief that they can win. They've shown us that all year.
Also agree that Gionta didn't play that bad and that Donato should be in there again.
I thought his added speed created some good chances for us and aided in entering the zone better than we had in the previous game.I only saw the 3rd period and OT. Donato failed to go to the wall on the final play, instead just windmilling his stick trying to knock it out. its was Pasta did when he was a rookie. was he better than that he rest of the game?
He could have been more physical on the play, but the defensive lapse was on Gionta for not taking away the guys stick. I thought that line played well overall, and deserved better, but I blame Gionta more for that play.I only saw the 3rd period and OT. Donato failed to go to the wall on the final play, instead just windmilling his stick trying to knock it out. its was Pasta did when he was a rookie. was he better than that he rest of the game?
Nash has been fine. He's been good in many aspects of the game. As I have said before, this is what Nash has been in the postseason for many years. He's got a rep as just a goal scorer, but he has improved his overall game especially defensively. He's far down the list of problems for this team. There's a lot of issues. But, seems like McDonagh was the bigger get at the deadline. We didn't shore up our D, the Carlo injury really fucked it, and Nash just hasn't performed.
Please stop justifying Nash's play. The Bruins didn't trade a first round pick and two really promising young players for a 3rd line grinder. He's non-existent where it matters, on the scoreboard. If his play was as good as you say his line would be showing up on the scoresheet, but it's not.Nash has been fine. He's been good in many aspects of the game. I would have loved to get McDonagh, but the price to get him was very steep and the Bruins are not in a go for it all type situation at this point in the team's development. This year was not and still isn't win at all costs. The Nash acquisition was a fair opportunity cost in giving up Spooner who wasn't in the long term plans and also getting the Rangers to pay some of Beleskey's contract. We'll see if the 1st rounder and Lindgren will hurt down the road.
I'm sure as hell not giving up on this team yet. They've shown a number of times that they are a resilient bunch. Find a way to win Game 5 then bring it back to the Garden.
I'm not giving up on them either, for the record. Just saying that I believe most here thought D was the biggest concern for the team at the deadline and that their getting McDonagh while we didn't add a top 4 D hurts a lot with the Carlo injury. Hindsight being 20/20 of course.Nash has been fine. He's been good in many aspects of the game. As I have said before, this is what Nash has been in the postseason for many years. It's really game 2 and 4, followed by 5. 2 and 4 were the worst officiated games I've seen.On the one hand 4-1 is 4-1. Terribly disappointing end.
On the other, it really didn't feel like a 4-1 series for most of it. That fucking Game 4 officiating is going to piss me off till the end of time.
Yeah, their defenseman were allowed to do whatever they wanted physically, and the Bruins were getting called for it. This was an absolute bag job from game 1. Worst part about it is, I think Tampa is better and would've won a game 7 on home ice against the Bruins. But now we really can't assess going forward what this team needs to do to take that next step, and what just looked horrible because of how lopsided the officiating was.Four even-strength goals from outside the first line in 5 games (McAvoy, Rick Nash, DeBrusk, and Krug). NONE after Game 2. I mean, I think that says everything.
Without a doubt. And Tampa shut down the first line today. Of the youth corps, McAvoy was the only one who looked like he belonged. DeBrusk and Heinen — 5th and 6th leading scorers during the season — were shut down. Krejci was kept contained. Nash and Nash were mostly invisible. The fourth line grinders grinded away but came up empty.Four even-strength goals from outside the first line in 5 games (McAvoy, Rick Nash, DeBrusk, and Krug). NONE after Game 2. To this end, the additions of Bjork and Donato as regulars with Frederic and Czarnik waiting in case of injuries should help with the secondary scoring. Tthey could use at least one guy on the 4th line with some upside. Nice line but exposed some by the Lightning.Without a doubt. And Tampa shut down the first line today. Hedman, Stralman, and McDonagh were very good.
