If someone tuned into this game, saw the score, and had to guess how the game had been going, they’d be wrong.

Russ tucking the ball then running in circles with no intention of throwing it away.... a classic

It is a good thing Zappe doesn’t throw interceptions or I would be worried this possession.

He made his XP's though (different rules/distances yes)
Meh, Ryland is 19/20, that's pretty good by 2023 NFL standards.
Ryland has been bad at FGs, if this team was better he'd have been cut, but it's the FGs that is the issue. Tonight was his first XP miss and it was a bad snap.

Honest question: How do you east-coast parents pull off Christmas if your kid is Santa-Claus young and a Pats fan?

Instead of drafting Ryland, we could have gotten Aubrey for nothing.
Aubrey was under contract in the USFL at the time of the draft

he’s been a great story but a 28 year old who had no NFL interest in 2022 and missed a few kicks in the USFL was hardly a good bet to succeed in the NFL.

Ryland has been abysmal but the vast majority of rookie kickers are awful and there really doesn’t seem to be any way to judge which guys can handle the mental part of the game.

And while Ryland is likely to continue to be awful, Vinatieri and Koo are obvious examples of guys who missed a ton of kicks early and figured it out in time.

It’s rare to have a rookie kicker do well so hopefully the Pats try to bring in a proven mediocrity veteran rather than go the youngster route again (or bring in an undrafted guy as competition)
