Did you accidentally delete the part where it says "except where it involves the Boston Bruins"?
I looked up the rule in less time than it took Toronto to make the call. The league’s explanation should be some industrial grade BS.

Haggerty tweet: Per the NHL, "it was determined that the actions of Brandon Carlo contributed to Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen’s stick making contact with Jeremy Swayman’s glove outside the crease and therefore, did not constitute goaltender interference." The Carlo part was not announced on ice.

This is not what I saw. I saw Rasmussen’s stick hit Carlo’s & Swayman’s pad & helmet. Gross.

The league got caught and offered an alternate explanation as a result. Problem is that the latter is equally unconvincing and transparently a lie. It seems that they they think we're stupid. I hope the Bruins FO pursues this. Hard to be a fan of the NHL when this happens time and again (see the non-call on the baseball swing to Freddy's head).

Edit: it should not be forgotten that the Wings got a PP as a result. The call should've been no goal and grounds exist for the B's then getting a PP.

I like that they realized the original reason was bullshit and then scrambled to come up with another bullshit reason. I do admire the commitment.

Refs are going to keep letting this after bullshit go until they decide to call a Bruin for it and give a power play to Detroit.

Right. The whole thing is BS.

That has to come at the President/Ownership level.
Agreed. I’m sure they are working on this behind the scenes, but it’s not working. I mean, here you have the league office straight up lying their ass off. Drag it out into the sunlight.

That was hardly definitive on Charlie (if not a dive) and certainly not something you call after the goalie scandal

The Detroit broadcast noted that there was a hand up for a tripping call drawn by Debrusk when he scored.
