Polian actually said something very cogent about this earlier. Basically, his point was that the position has not become undervalued, but given the prevalence of the spread option, unless you can find someone with a literally complete skillset of which there are basically none, you have to pay three different guys to play it.

which is why a guy like Hyde who is good in all 3 dimensions -- every down back, short yardage back, passing game (no idea if he can block, though) -- seems to me so valuable and why I'd love him for the Pats.
Blount was terrific last year, but so limited.

Gotta love the draft.

Fair enough--if he's an every down back that's incredibly value, especially in terms of disguising offenses. I just thought Polian had a really interesting point in the idea that the position isn't undervalued, it's that players are valued only based on the limited portion of the role they can play.
I'd love the fits the Pats might give opponents with an all-purpose back.

Carr to Oakland, Johnny Football to Cleveland, etc

Oh, yeah...wasn't disagreeing with you or with Polian, fully agree. Just that the same point accentuates how great an addition a guy like Hyde would be, especially for the Pats -- having to sub so much last year meant they couldn't do hurry-up in order to take advantage of the other team's sub patterns as much as in previous years.
That sentence hurts my head.Reverend said:This is a really good point. Was there a single person who wasn't sold on Manziel in the country who didn't see him get drafted and shout, "Ha! I knew it!!"
It must be really difficult to play QB at a high level with PTSD.David Carr's advice to his brother explains everything about his shitty career.

The #Jets were furiously trying to trade up with the #Bucs, hoping to take WR Marqise Lee. Their fear was the #Jaguars would take him.
Oh well Jets
So he's Marcel Reece 2.0? Sign me up.mascho said:
That's why I love Talliferro, the kid from Coastal Carolina. He's basically a RB in a FB's body. Great in the screen game and in pass pro. I can see schemes with him and Vereen on the field at the same time and being able to run anything from an I formation to no backs in the backfield.
