According to NFL Network USC has requested:
-No night games at home for the LA Rams on Monday night because it's a school night
-No Sunday day games for the LA Rams at home after a USC Saturday home game

And the NFL tried to accommodate. WTF???? NFL is now taking advice from corrupt NCAA programs?

Thank god those poor kids at USC don't have to be subjected to a 5:30 home game on Monday night.

Thank goodness they put @ Miami at the end, although that's always a brutal game. Still, they should rack up double digit victories.

Not sure I think the 1st half is tough with AZ, Cincy, Pittsburgh, Houston, and at Buffalo which is always tough. 2nd half is Seattle, @Denver, and both Jets games that are tough and the rest are pretty easy.
AZ is my main concern. Bengals at home? Houston at home and on a short week? I'm not so concerned.

I agree on the second half. But if you can go 7-1 or so in the first half, even a 4-4 second half, which i think is a stretch is getting you into the playoffs.

I'm really expecting them to be probably 6-2 at the turn and end up 12-4 most likely. That'll get them a week 1 bye and a 7th AFC Championship.

That's about where I think they will be as well. I think 6-2 is doable in 1st half which sets up for a big run in 2nd half.

Here
Cupcake seems like a bit much, but it's about as good as we could have hoped for. They went pretty generous first month, given the circumstances.

I agree Jimmy G. will benefit from the 3 home games he's starting to start the season. Even if he loses the opener on the road.

We are so spoiled to look at a schedule and every year talk about 11 wins an expectation as the bottom. No wonder all other fans hate us.

Perfectly placed bye, then Denver could be irrelevant by week 15

Also 2 weeks to plan for Seattle, and potentially the hardest road game is done and over with week 1

I'm so happy to see three west coast games spread out the way they are. I may be able to make all of Arizona, San Francisco, and Denver.

Wow this is much better than I expected.

- Thursday night game is at home following another home game
- Three home games for Jimmy G in case of Brady suspension
- Not playing @Miami in September heat
(Arizona normally closes the roof during oppressive heat, don't they?)
- Long trips out west are nicely spaced out.

Quickly:

-People are actually "concerned" about Houston at home? Really? Barring injury, the Pats floor in that game is as 7 point favorites (and if Osweiler sucks it could be 9-10)
-Bizarre having 3 straight 1:00 games so early in the season. I expect that late in the year with the perennial run of mediocre division games, but not weeks 4-6.
-This is not that hard of a schedule. Baltimore and Seattle at home, playing a 9-7 Denver team on the road (they lost twice there last season, but I wouldn't say either game was a blowout), mediocre division, Bengals and Houston at home, layup road games at San Francisco and Cleveland. Toughest games are at Arizona and Pittsburgh. I'm not afraid of the Steelers defense, and think the Pats (if healthy) will score 38+ that game. Arizona is a damn good team, and The Nest is a tough place to play. I'm very excited to watch that game, and i won't begrudge the team for an 0-1 start.
-It's going to cost an arm and a leg but I have to go to both the Seattle and Baltimore games. Especially Seattle. I haven't been that amped for a regular season home game in a long time.
-Seriously, when 5 of your 8 road games are Miami, NYJ, the Bills, 49ers, and BROWNS (!), it's tough to complain about much.

I'm very pissed the NFL didn't accommodate the Pats fans by not scheduling one of the 5 night games on Ortiz day. So fans of both teams can't watch both.

Not sure if anyone else caught this on NFLN earlier tonight, but Herm Edwards predicted that they'll go 10-6. Has them losing @Cards, @Steelers, @bills, @JETS, @Broncos and @Dolphins. LOL, Herm - you fucking moron!

Moving the Line
8-0 at home and 2-6 on the road... I wonder if there has ever been such a huge split?
Apologies if I'm missing subtleties here, but look no further than the 2009 Patriots. Only road wins were at Buffalo, and also against the Bucs (a Wembley game, technically counted as a road game), then 8-0 at home.

Id actually prefer more 4:25 games. Less competition and it would still end at a reasonable hour.

Reiss has them at 11-5. So, what kind of moron is he?

They're going to move games to 430 and 8. Don't get excited yet.

Why is that so ridiculous?

The Cardinals are really good. Denver is a house of horrors. The Jets are never easy, it's not like the Pats have a great history in Miami.

Oh, and the Steelers offense is fantastic if Rapist is healthy.

The NFL is funny. 10-6 is entirely possible.

Love the later bye for a change. Couldn't have asked for much better.
Since 2009 the Patriots bye weeks have been 8, 5, 7, 9, 10, 10, 4, and now 9 this year.
The really early bye last year sucked, but other than that they have been quite lucky concerning the bye weeks.

In the same timespan Denver had week 9 twice and other than that week 7 or earlier, for example. They do get 11 this year though.

Look, it's one thing to say that they could lose all six of those road games, and it's another to say "here are six challenging road games, they're going to lose them all."

It's ridiculous because it presumes the Patriots will lose all of the toughest games they have on schedule, something that has never happened with a healthy Brady. They may go 10-6 by dropping a couple of games no one expects them to, but I guarantee they'll do better than 2-6 on the road.

Until Brady's decline visibly happens, I'm penciling them in for 12 wins every season.

Just went through the Pats schedule and cross-referenced against the NFL schedule. As noted the (first) Jets game is the only time where the opponent is coming off a bye. I did not notice ANY games where the Pats opponent is either coming off a Thursday night game, or off a Monday night game. The only other quirk is that the 2nd Jets game, in NE, the Jets will have an extra day of rest as they play on Saturday December 17th, whereas the Pats play on the 18th. Interesting (and not particularly well thought out) that the Jets get extra rest for BOTH of the Pats games this year. Hopefully it won't matter.

Hey NFLN had the Cowboys coming in at 11-5, so you know their predictions are absolutely going to be chalk.

The Seahawks play Monday night then have to fly to Foxboro, while the Pats are coming off a bye.

Pats apparently wanted 2 games out west back to back (Cards and Niners), but other than that, seems decent to me.

We already knew the opponents and locales so all I'm looking at here is the bye week, the first month (Brady/Jimmy G) and the last 3.

Ah, I specifically did not look at the Seahawks the week before because I knew the Pats were coming off a bye so I didn't really care when Seattle played. Double whammy for Seattle. Thanks.

They'll probably do better than 2-6 on the road and probably do worse than 8-0 at home.

The Jets have 4 short weeks and 6 of the first 9 on the road. They really got the short end of the stick.
In addition to Reiss predicting the outcomes, every ESPN NFL Nation reporter did the same thing. When you look at all of the Pats games from their perspective, they also came away with 11-5.

I'm with everyone else that this is likely a 12 or 13 win team.

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4792100/opponents-view-of-2016-new-england-patriots-schedule
If the offensive line stabilizes, they could be even better than a 13 win team. Defensively, I like all of the additions although it remains to be seen how good the CB position will be. If Logan Ryan can improve further on his stellar play from last year then that is a solid group. Offensively, as I said, the line stabilization with a healthy Solder and the development of the young guys in the interior will go a long ways.

This is pretty funny because it's as if the League went extra mile to cut off any griping from us. Bye right in the middle; the games Brady most likely to be out are reasonable, and three at home; no outrageous road trips, back to backs or anything else.

Leave the drama to the Steelers and Bengals; no schedule game threading here.
