Severe thunderstorm watch for the entire region through this evening so I don't think they are going to be out long.

I do see some stuff building on the radar in the eastern part of Ohio that formed after it went by Columbus, which is unusual. Looks like there will be more storms coming, but there is a window to get some more holes in.

We are on a sever storm watch every afternoon in this region, so that's nothing new.

He's about to toss away a few shots here on 18. Bad decision on his second shot.

Edit: Ends up a double.

And he striped his 3rd attempt at it, that actually worked out better than the provisional.

I like seeing Rob sitting at +1. He appeared to have some opening hole jitters going +2 through 3, but looks (by the scorecard) to have had a very nice round today.

That line of storms is traveling really fast though, I would bet it will be out of the area within 30-45 minutes. I think it will all depend on how quickly the course can get cleaned up. It stays light around these parts until 9:30.

I was at Oakmont yesterday and the weather was nuts. When we were waiting in line for the shuttle back to the main lots we were standing in ankle deep water. It looked like a waterfall coming down the hill towards the main entrance. I wasn't planning on going today but I got a notification on my phone that while play is resuming this morning, the spectator gates are closed until further notice. They got another 1/2 inch of rain in Oakmont over night and I can't imagine what a disaster the loading and unloading area is today. Good luck to anyone going out there today.

Also, I might watch more golf today than I ever have in any day of my life. This could be a 7am to 9pm marathon.

Au contraire. Sounds like golf might be wrapping up in the next couple hours.

Edit: I missed the "2nd wave" part. Golf on all day!

Yeah, they have a lot of golf to get in the next two days. They will be playing today for as long as there is daylight and it seems like that will be the case for tomorrow, too.

And quite possibly for Sunday

The second round second wave (Spieth, Rory, etc) won't start today. So probably looking at finishing the second round tomorrow and then starting the 3rd round with split tee's in the afternoon. They may not finish the 3rd round on Saturday, but if the weather cooperates I think they'll still be able to get out early and still finish Sunday.

Lots of excellent opening rounds rolling in. He's down to 60th place
Well that's because half of the field has only played a handfull of holes. At the end of the round, I suspect he'll be in the 30ish range, maybe lower. Right now there are 18 players better than him that have completed the full first round.

The number 1 golfer in the world just went bunker to bunker and then couldn't get out of that bunker.
Makes me feel a little better about my game(not that it should but whatever).

It's amazing the 2nd round hasn't even started yet when at 1pm of 2014, Martin Kaymer, having finished his 2nd round, had pretty much wrapped up the 2014 US Open. This is so much more enjoyable, despite the delays yesterday.
