The coaching staff's decision to move Grant to the outside has worked out brilliantly thus far -- or at least in preseason -- where he shined in 3 out of 4 games. The guy reminds me of a shorter, faster, more raw version of Steve Smith. I think he's going to make some plays down the field this year.
I, too, love McDonald and support the FO's desire to keep him in Miami long-term. He's a tough SOB, strong tackler, decent in coverage ... and it's not like Reshad is just an in-the-box guy -- at least not yet.
My #1 area of concern with this team heading into PS was the offensive line, but that has since subsided. I think Jesse Davis has represented himself well as the starter, and Steen has been solid, as well. When Larsen returns, I'll be interested to see if he replaces Bushrod instead, with Bush' returning to more of the swing tackle role. I've become a fan of Eric Smith and hope he makes the team.
My biggest concern for this team now is at LB. The depth is severely lacking, comprised mostly of project UDFAs who have shown flashes, at times, in exhibition. I'm a Hull fan, but I have reservations as to whether he and Rey will be able to hold down the Mike in this defense.
It seems as though Lacey's been cut, which is a minor surprise to me. While certainly raw, I loved his speed/potential, and he appeared to perform well on ST. I hope he makes it to the practice squad. I'd also be shocked at this point if the Fins don't make a move, either through trade or the WW, to attempt to bolster this unit.
I'm loving what I've seen from Tankersley early on. If this "switch" doesn't turn on for Maxwell soon, I'd expect the rookie to get the call. He could prove to be our best pick ... at least for this year.
