Well, except he isn't getting fired. You can't fire someone not under contract. In other news, Marvin Lewis is finally getting canned:
It does sound like a "You can't fire me, I quit!" situation. Then again it's rare for a coach to actually get to the end of his contract. If the Bengals made the playoffs I bet he would have gotten a new deal.Well, except he isn't getting fired. You can't fire someone not under contract.
It's also rare to have ownership like the Bengals'. This happened in 2010 too.It does sound like a "You can't fire me, I quit!" situation. Then again it's rare for a coach to actually get to the end of his contract. If the Bengals made the playoffs I bet he would have gotten a new deal.
The NFL is hiring outside counsel and taking over the investigation.Isn't having the minority owner overseeing the investigation of the majority owner a conflict of interest?
Like the Clippers. But Sterling didn't put up that much of a fight. The NFL is hiring outside counsel and taking over the investigation.
This is not good for Jerry. The Panthers were trying to do the ol’ “we’ll investigate and slap some penalties before the NCAA drops the hammer” thing. This could be a very interesting precedent set if it is bad enough to actually force the sale of a professional franchise.
File this one under “You Can Judge a Book by its Cover.”Richardson is a piece of shit.
What does Kap have anything to do with it? They already have a great QB in Cam.And they should be forced to sign Colin Kaepernick
Ed: he should go, and it would be great if a woman or minority bought the team, but even in a forced sale business is going to business and football is going to football
Well that's a legal issue. I have no idea if they can or cannot have a bigger say, and what the League is entitled to compel him to do, or if he can sell it to his kids or what. What does Kap have anything to do with it? They already have a great QB in Cam.
I realize it’s going to go to whoever. But the NFL needs to have a bigger say than the actual person selling it. He can’t go and sell it to his kids. Get that stink off the team.
Not that this is at all relevant to the investigation of Richardson, but wouldn't Kaepernick be the *perfect* backup for Newton? What does Kap have anything to do with it? They already have a great QB in Cam.
In other news, Marvin Lewis is finally getting canned:
It’s not like his record on these sorts of things was a secret.Richardson is a piece of shit.
And he will probably get out at the NFL's high value. That's the one black cloudJust announced -- Jerry Richardson will be selling the franchise.
Wow.
Don't sales have to be approved by the league or the owners?Well that's a legal issue. I have no idea if they can or cannot have a bigger say, and what the League is entitled to compel him to do, or if he can sell it to his kids or what.
When the Patriots claimed Martellus Bennett, the Packers complained that Bennett was healthy enough to play in games, should not have gone for season-ending surgery and was able to play, as proven by the fact that he played for in Patriots games. And we heard tons of complaints about Bennett from Packers fans. Then Bennett went on IR, so it seems he really was hurt.Did I miss this being posted? Seems significant. Aaron Rodgers put on IR on Tuesday, ending his season.
Where exactly would he fit on this roster? He offers zero value on special teams and, well, sucks at playing in any capacity on defense.
Couple that was his public - and I can imagine there's even more private - chafing at not logging sufficient snaps and I don't see a remote fit.
This tweet has a non-toast ring to it.
@pff “James Harrison has seen just 17 pass-rush snaps as an edge defender this season, but has still racked up a pressure once every 4.25 pass-rushing snaps.”
I like Harrison. He works his ass off. But he's the poster boy for abusing steroids and it always cracked me up the way people talked around it.
Loved it last week as Michaels talked about how incredible it was that Harrison was playing at this advanced age and Collinsworth talked about how insane his workout regimen is while they show a picture of Harrison flexing a 20-inch bicep. Reminds me of when people talked about the Roger Clemens workout.I like Harrison. He works his ass off. For me, it was just when he returned from basically being out of football and everyone was like oh he took a few years off and is now suddenly bigger, faster and stronger and a Pro Bowl player when he previously washed out. Magic!Loved it last week as Michaels talked about how incredible it was that Harrison was playing at this advanced age and Collinsworth talked about how insane his workout regimen is while they show a picture of Harrison flexing a 20-inch bicep. No opinion on what Nomar did or didn't use, but I never got the fuss over that picture. That physique wasn't that hard to obtain, especially not with pro athlete genes and access to great trainers and recovery.Or the Normar Garciaparra “Navy Seal” Sports Illustrated cover.
Thought it was the fastball off the wrist. Regardless, what's that have to do with potential steroid use?Nomar broke down like Tiger Woods. Rather suddenly, and irreparably.
Rebounded from wrist with two strong seasons. Then came the Achilles ...Thought it was the fastball off the wrist. Regardless, what's that have to do with potential steroid use?
Or are you saying after testing came in he was never the same?
Good edge rushers will create a pressure on 10% of pass plays. So yes its excellent. But 17 snaps is nothing. Is that good? Bad? Average?
When you are playing something like 8 (football reference says he has 40 defensive snaps all year in 5 games) snaps a game and are the freshest player on the field, I imagine it becomes a little easier to generate pressure. I may be wrong, though, I have a tendency to say stupid things.PFF liked the percentage.
