This really well written piece by Michael Hurley from CBS Boston about Gronkowski getting emotional about his struggles as well as sharing Rich Ohrnberger's Twitter thread strikes a different tone than the article posted above (remarkably both pieces are from the same organization).
Given the tone of Gronkowski's comments as well as the Luck announcement and the Andrews story, I think the bar for his return may have been raised. And I was in the camp that he was likely to return before. However, given his injuries and how they affected his mental state combined with an increasing awareness by the players of what they are doing to themselves long term, I am going the other way.
Gronk has made good money, won rings and is widely considered one of, if not the best ever to play his position. I get that he may miss certain aspects of playing football as well as being part of a team. However the cost of trying to get all that back seems really high and it is something Gronkowski appeared to acknowledge during his appearance.
