I was planning on going to Bethpage next month, but now it's a must go on Sunday. He's going to be there at the end of the PGA too. Then Pebble.....
Yea that was brutal. Nantz using his indoor golf voice still ugh.I hate how this ceremony feels like a fucking funeral every year.
They need to do it outside like they used to and get the crowd involved.
Every thread everHis performance in this thread is absolutely a bannable offense.
The one other player who did what Tiger did for golf (expanded the purses and interest in the game) was Arnold Palmer. Nicklaus was better but Arnie was much more loved, had his army and really turned golf into a major sport. Probably take a zero or more off the purses back then compared with today, but Arnie improved them a lot and he and Tiger are the two top ambassadors for golf, IMO.I am assuming there are a lot of folks in this thread too young to see tiger come of age because I am mind boggled at the lack of appreciation for his place in making the game what it is today.
I guarantee you every player in the field today just realized how much more money they have made and that they will make going forward because of this guy.
How many sports have a favorite that fans root for. And one that fd up bad in his personal life.
Too lazy to look it up, but I believe when Tiger won two straight the Augusta chairman (Hootie?) put the jacket on him.Hey so I can't remember...what happens when someone repeats (as rare as it is)...do they put the jacket on themselves?
Jack is pumpedGolf Channel is on the phone with Jack Nicklaus from the Bahamas. This is awesome.
Tiger is sort of like Jack and Arnie rolled into one. The greatest golfer of his day and charismatic. The one other player who did what Tiger did for golf (expanded the purses and interest in the game) was Arnold Palmer. He let Molinari come back to him. Steady and patient.Remember when he was 3 back of Molinari after 6? That was fun.
He is just awesome. Greatest golfer ever. Great golf course designer and businessman. Family man. Philanthropist.Tiger is sort of like Jack and Arnie rolled into one. The greatest golfer of his day and charismatic.
Never thought of it that way. Might well be.Tiger is sort of like Jack and Arnie rolled into one. The greatest golfer of his day and charismatic.
Because he still doesn’t think Tiger can catch him.He is just awesome. Greatest golfer ever. Great golf course designer and businessman. Family man. Philanthropist.
Just an all round dude. And he sounds genuinely happy for Tiger.
And he led in the first one.Tiger’s last 3 majors...T6,2,1. Incredible.
I am as excited as anyone... but... Family Man?He is just awesome. Greatest golfer ever. Great golf course designer and businessman. Family man. Philanthropist.

Ah. My bad. Amazing day. This was pure fun.I think he was talking about Jack.
The new schedule definitely helps. Being able to turn right around and play the PGA is huge. Here’s the thing. Tiger has been playing very well but it was unclear if he would ever get over the hump and win another major. Now that he has done that, I can see him winning several more.
And at Bethpage and then PebbleThe new schedule definitely helps. Being able to turn right around and play the PGA is huge.
Hasn’t there still never been a Masters champion shooting in the 60s every round?Fun exercise in perspective, look at the leaderboard of the 1997 Masters when he won his first. All pretty much long gone.

It’s funny, I was just thinking about how this victory is so much different than even his last. The field seems so much stronger an accomplished now.Fun exercise in perspective, look at the leaderboard of the 1997 Masters when he won his first. All pretty much long gone.

Funny thing is, Jack Nicklaus made the cut that year.Fun exercise in perspective, look at the leaderboard of the 1997 Masters when he won his first. All pretty much long gone.

And his playing partner in the final round was Lee Westwood making his Masters debut. I think if you watch the broadcast you get a glimpse of young Westy for about 1 whole second.Funny thing is, Jack Nicklaus made the cut that year.
Just seeing Tom Kite as the #2 there is crazy, 14 year stretch between his first #2 finish in 1983 and then this one in 1997Fun exercise in perspective, look at the leaderboard of the 1997 Masters when he won his first. All pretty much long gone.
