NC State and Auburn dudes still out there.Grab a QB next year
They are expected to have 13 picks in 2020 including compensatory selections.Pats need to start trading picks for next year. They will need the draft capital to go get a QB.
Finley wont make it back to us. I dont think we are drafting a QB until Brady says "this will be my last season".kind of meh
And the Raiders will overpay him in free agency.Dante will make him an above average swing tackle in two years.
Good to know. Still would like to get even more as I can’t imagine using all the picks tomorrow. They are expected to have 13 picks in 2020 including compensatory selections.
Cajuste is a high-performing pass-protector with all of the tools to succeed in the NFL. He also earned the ninth-best run-blocking grade among draft-eligible offensive tackles in 2018.
- 11th-highest overall grade among draft-eligible tackles
- No. 39 pass-blocking grade in the class
- No. 9 run-blocking grade among draft-class tackles
- Allowed just 12 total pressures on 414 pass-blocking snaps from left tackle
Me too. Which scares me.I must say I’m really digging this draft so far.
Oh man. I hadn’t thought of Harry and Gordon on the field at the same time. That’d be sublime. This draft is fucking incredible. Even Damien Harris I can see the role and why they would like him. Good in pass pro, great vision, has power, team captain type as a bonus.
You booster the pass rush and get a guy who might be an every down player in Wino. You have a huge DB who has played other positions in the secondary with incredible agility for his size as the bigger receiver and maybe TE matchup. Cajuste is athletic and was my favorite of the day 2 guys. They needed tackle depth and they got it.
They got an athletic receiver in Harry who in theory can line up anywhere. He’s not their typical guy but if he hits would help fill the void Gordon leaves while on suspension.
With all draft picks there is a chance of busting but I think you can see the plan here, like the prospects fit for that plan, and generally be excited about what they are doing.
Really need one of Gordon and Demaryius to work out. A WR corp of Jules/Dorsett/Gordon or Demaryius/Harry/Harris would work just fine with me. If you remove both Demaryius and Gordon, it looks a little lean.Oh man. I hadn’t thought of Harry and Gordon on the field at the same time. That’d be sublime.
Berrios will get a chance, plus they're not done. Draft isn't over, UDFAs, other team's camp cuts, etc.Really need one of Gordon and Demaryius to work out. That doesn't look like a guy who is pissed off.Dugar, Michael-ShawnVerified account @MikeDugar
Pete Carroll says DK Metcalf came into the interview with them shirtless. Seriously. A scout talked him into it. Carroll jokes that he was shocked, then pissed off — so he took his shirt off, too. Quite the visuals going right now.

I know he does a good job in Seattle but I’m glad we don’t have coach like that.Dugar, Michael-ShawnVerified account @MikeDugar

Yup, not done but what are odds of a Day 3/UDFA making any kind of impact in year 1? Seems like FA market was too rich and then trade market never really materialized. But there’s enough talent here to be in decent shape with considerable upside.Berrios will get a chance, plus they're not done. Draft isn't over, UDFAs, other team's camp cuts, etc.
That hasn't been their MO.Finley wont make it back to us. I dont think we are drafting a QB until Brady says "this will be my last season".
This is what I don’t understand about the ‘they should draft a QB this year’ crowd from this draft and last years. They have shown in the past that they will draft a QB with an early pick if they like the player. They’ve been moving down the draft board and not taking QBs which to me is a pretty obvious signal that they don’t like the QBs available. Why would you want them to draft a QB they don’t like just for the sake of drafting a QB?That hasn't been their MO.
Brissett, O'Connell, Mallet in the 3rd. Jimmy G in the 2nd.
I agree. I think we’re in the area of the draft where Pats like Etling better than QB’s on the board or believe no one else would be much of an upgrade over him at this point. Picking a QB means were cutting at least one of Hoyer/Etling, so maybe the Pats aren’t looking to force their own hand unless the guy is a potential starter post-Brady.This is what I don’t understand about the ‘they should draft a QB this year’ crowd from this draft and last years. Right but I think the Jimmy G/Brady situation where he was forced to deal the guy he had tabbed and groomed has him reluctant to do that again. Just my sense, but i could be wrong. Jimmy G was 5 years ago and Brady has only gotten older. That hasn't been their MO.

Someone hasn’t been paying attention for the last few years.Yup, not done but what are odds of a Day 3/UDFA making any kind of impact in year 1? Harry couldn’t have walked into a better situation.
I think that IF the pats go QB (i dont think they will) they will be picking an under the radar guy they knew all along would be there in 4. They couldnt have known Finley would, and if they really wanted him they would have gone for him in 3. Its never been their style to say "wow he is a value here he is falling, lets take him"With Pats bridging the gap a bit Finley could be there
I was pretty clearly talking about the WR position. Mitchell made an impact in year 1 as a 4th rounder. Outside of him, yeah, not much.Someone hasn’t been paying attention for the last few years.
Every year, at least one UDFA makes the team and makes an impact, even as a role player.
I agree. This is why i think the idea of Finley is a non starter. If they really want a guy, even if the world thinks he is 2 rounds early, they take him. If they dont like a guy, they dont change their mind because he falls 2 rounds lateThe Patriots don’t draft for strictly need. As Caserio said last night with Harris, they looked at their options at their pick and took the best football player available that helps the team. They’re not drafting a player simply because of position. They value the depth on the roster moreso than most. They’re not going to waste a roster spot on a QB if they don’t like the player.
Why would he be reluctant? They got 3.5 years of quality backup QB and traded Garoppolo for a higher pick than they used on him in the first place. That's a home run.Right but I think the Jimmy G/Brady situation where he was forced to deal the guy he had tabbed and groomed has him reluctant to do that again. Just my sense, but i could be wrong. I agree, that's a good take. Their style would be to use a 4th on say Rypien relative to his draft projection of a 6th-7th.I agree. This is why i think the idea of Finley is a non starter. Then again, the Patriots look for value, not always need.I agree. This is why i think the idea of Finley is a non starter. If they really want a guy, even if the world thinks he is 2 rounds early, they take him. If they dont like a guy, they dont change their mind because he falls 2 rounds late
