In recent history, I just stay on masters.com for the whole tournament. So best place to watch the coverage before tv is either masters.com, paramount plus or espn plus right?
Lesson learned from last year I guess!Gary Player to the Saudi league, confirmed!
Yeah, they had them on Masters.com.Lesson learned from last year I guess!
I know we will see it a million times between now and Sunday, but did they even show the ceremonial first tee shots?
I looked up how Harrington qualified myself about half an hour ago, for exactly the same reason as you.If you're wondering how in the hell he qualified, like I was, it's because he finished in the top 4 at last years PGA.
That 1998 6th always sticks out to me. He was 58, a month short of hip replacement (maybe double?) and was in contention until the final few holes. He barely missed an eagle chip late that would have moved him into 2nd, IIRC. As long as his nerves are intact, if a guy can make a run, he can win. I'll be surprised if Tiger can make a run this year.A few Tiger vs. Jack Masters facts for you as we get up and running today:
Number of wins: Jack 6, Tiger 5
Span between first and last wins: Jack 23 years, Tiger 22 years
Span between penultimate and last wins: Jack 11 years, Tiger 14 years
At least superficially similar, right? I mention this because this is what Jack did in the 12 years after his last win in 1986, until he reached age 58: T7 (1987), T21, T18, 6th (1990), T35, T42, T27, Cut, T35, T41, T39, T6 (1998). I bring this up because that strikes me as the sort of range of results we might expect to get from Tiger going forward: course knowledge and experience will always benefit him, and I don't expect him to miss any cuts unless he's really hurt, and I expect him to make at least one more run at a green jacket at some point, but can he actually win it? We'll see...
Hit his tee shot in the trees. ONE OF US! ONE OF US!Ugh, my man Freddie Couples doubles the 4th to put himself in an early hole.
think I saw Mize with one as well.Couples playing with a yellow ball is something.
Larry Mize alsoCouples playing with a yellow ball is something.
The problem is that a 8 putt is not out of the question on a bunch of holes. The ball just keeps rolling and rolling.I've always thought about what I'd shoot at Augusta. With those greens, 120 isn't out of the question.

I would consider a 120 good for a hacker.
Did you mean to say that you won't be surprised if Tiger can make a run this year? That 1998 6th always sticks out to me. No but it might make a huge difference if you played a normal round or if you had marshals and spectators and TV crews there to help you find your ball if you missed the fairway. These guys DO miss shots but almost never lose golf balls because there's an army of people who can find them. You and I go play a round anywhere and we can lose a ball three feet off the fairway, no problem. That stuff does add up.I've always thought about what I'd shoot at Augusta. With those greens, 120 isn't out of the question.
Why? They're aren't many in play but they're generally accepted these days. Titleist actually had to produce a yellow Pro V1 because they found were losing market share to brands with a premium yellow ball. There are still a few soccer ball patterns out there too, though less now because the Chrome Soft X eliminated the truvis pattern from its offerings.Couples playing with a yellow ball is something.
I have no doubt the spectators 3 feet away would cost me more strokes than what I would gain in help finding a ball in the rough. No but it might make a huge difference if you played a normal round or if you had marshals and spectators and TV crews there to help you find your ball if you missed the fairway. Not saying we'd play remotely as well as these guys - they're the best in the world after all and we....aren't - but it certainly would help our scores a ton if we had people locating all the balls we shank.
Hahaha that was great.I have no doubt the spectators 3 feet away would cost me more strokes than what I would gain in help finding a ball in the rough.

FWIW, I don't think lost balls in play would be a huge deal for amateur players at Augusta. There's basically no rough, and even in the pine straw the ball is usually sitting up and not burried. No but it might make a huge difference if you played a normal round or if you had marshals and spectators and TV crews there to help you find your ball if you missed the fairway. Just not the traditional thing to play with at the PGA level, that's all. I don't mind playing with a colored ball. Why? They're aren't many in play but they're generally accepted these days. Titleist actually had to produce a yellow Pro V1 because they found were losing market share to brands with a premium yellow ball. I find the yellow ball significantly easier to see as well. Especially on cloudy days.
SameI can't believe Tiger Woods is about to play in the Masters.
