All that effort to barely beat the 12th place team in the conference Saturday night and then more effort again tonight just to have a rally fall short to the 11th place team. So sad.

Giannis had a 10 second violation called at the free throw line in the 4th quarter, and he actually sped up a bit after that. About time, he's got a pretty set routine that is 11-12 seconds long. I get giving the guy a grace period every now and then, but he's ALWAYS over by a second or two. Let's move things along.

The Denver announcers were counting to 12 and 13 along with a bunch of fans. Very amusing.

Doc loses in Denver in his Bucks debut. Griffin could have done that!

I'd love for them to use the shot clock, with a buzzer

it would be great in late/tight games

That was two very dirty plays by Brooks, the first one, on Vanderbilt was super reckless and Vandy was fortunate not to have been injured.

Dunno man. There's no doubt Brooks plays like Draymond-lite on some nights, but that was the gentlest hand-on-the-side you could ask for. Vanderbilt lands, is stable on his feet, and then theatrically throws himself to the floor - watch it again. If Brooks submarined the guy or really knocked him around while he's in the air, yeah, throw the book at him, start an altercation, fine. But this is Vanderbilt making a mountain out of a molehill and just trying to start something imo.

Yeah that was my first reaction. Put a hand on a guy like that in the air can result in some really dangerous landings, but Vanderbilt hits the ground under control and just kind of collapses like he got the wind knocked out of him.

Knicks about to jump Philly in the standings.
Philly is still a few percentage points ahead, but the Knicks are far better suited to survive without Randle/OG than the Sixers are without Embiid/Maxey. Philly needs those guys back soon to stay within shouting distance of the top of the conference (right now they're just as close to 8th as they are to 1st).

Next 8 games will be tough for Doc and Bucks. 4 games left on the current road swing. Not against the stiffest opposition, but lots of travel, including road B2B at Dallas and Utah. Then, consecutive B2Bs back at home (MIN/CHA... DEN/MIA).

Will be interesting to see if Bucks and 76ers are still within shouting distance of the Celtics by mid Feb, or if one/both have been passed by NYK and/or CLE.

I'd like to see Emiid get through two playoff series before we worry he can dominate four.
Indeed. And, in addition to all the classic reasons to be skeptical of 76ers in May, one wonders if Maxey will be gassed by then as well, mentally and physically. He leads the league in min per game while taking on a much larger role this year. This type of leveling-up often has guys hitting a wall late in the season. His scoring and efficiency have already tailed off as the season has gone along. He's a great young talent and it wouldn't shock me to see him have a good postseason, but it's something to keep tabs on.

All I know is that my SGA for MVP bet is looking better by the day (I know he is unlikely to win so no need for someone here to lecture me how its Embiid's to lose).
Lecture unnecessary? Embiid is probably going to miss enough games that it's Shai vs. Jokic, and Shai has the narrative advantage there.

MIA going be 8th seed again, aren't they?
I wonder whether this is like the Nets in 2022, where everyone was terrified of facing them in the 1st round (Ben Simmons might be back!), and then that got the Celtics jacked up, and they played one of their most focused series in awhile.

I will be as scared as anyone here about Miami, but it might not be the worst thing if it happened.

Just lots and lots of bullshit free throws, to the point of making an unwatchable farce of the league.

Lots of them. Lots.
What exactly is a “bull shit free throw?” Is that like when you beat your man to the spot, create an angle on him forcing the defender out of position prior to generating contact?

Let's start with throwing his elbows into people on a drive when they're not a part of his shooting motion, for the sole purpose of getting a call rather than trying to make a bucket (as D-White can tell you from the other night). Or moving his feet in a direction as he's landing from a jumper that just so happens to always find an opponent's foot, no matter which side the opponent is coming down on (and then, obviously, he has to theatrically flop).

I'm not gonna litigate this here, I was just riffing on a one liner. But the hate is real, I ain't gonna lie.

Hopefully everything will be more like 2022 than last year, except the part where they actually win the whole GD thing. o_O

For me, Harden has a mix of smart-play fouls (like above) and pure grifting, like when he kicks his leg out on a jumper to create contact, or steps backwards or sideways not as a part of a move but purely to draw contact and bet that they will call it on defender not him. I respect his craft at both types, but I dislike the latter, which he did so skillfully they needed to change rules to deal with he and Chris Paul.

I can relate to the hatred. I had to watch Rondo here for years.

Curious if they are going to use the NBA 3 point line, or the WNBA/International line. It's 22'3-23'9 in the NBA and only 20'7 for the WNBA.
My guess would be Curry the NBA line and NBA ball while Sabrina shots from WNBA line with the smaller WNBA ball. This should be fun.

Yup, according to article on ESPN

The Warriors' Curry will shoot from the NBA 3-point line with NBA basketballs while the Liberty's Ionescu will shoot from the WNBA 3-point line with WNBA basketballs.

They should do the entire 3-point contest like this, with the best of the women shooters. Would be way more entertaining and pretty cool.

Or like the Heat-Bucks series in 2021 after MIA upset MIL in the 2020 playoffs.

It could lead to that which would bring a ton more exposure to the WNBA which is a league that most NBA fans ignore. Baby steps.
