The Heat have now lost 4 straight, and sit in 8th place (just a game behind Philly in 6th). I don't know if it's just a SSS issue, but the Heat are 28th in crunch time net rating this year (Denver is 1st, Milwaukee is 2nd, Boston is 6th). They were 2nd last year. I can't think of another team I'd rather see fall flat on their faces in round 1 (even if they play the Bucks) than Miami.

The last few posts dunking on the Lakers and their east coast branch are life affirming.

And in any contest involving Los Angeles, the answer about who you want to lose in a matchup between two trash franchises is always the Lakers and always in the most painful way possible.

Love you too bro. Prior to the last two games the Bucks were Top-6 on both Off and Def Rating under Doc. Doc is running more pick n roll w Giannia and Lillard than they ever were under Griffin leading to their improved offense.
Doc acknowledges that MIL has trouble defending “pace and space” teams. He also acknowledges that he doesn’t have an answer for this. Here’s a further breakdown of MIL’s defensive issues: https://www.forbes.com/sites/briansampson/2024/03/14/the-milwaukee-bucks-defense-has-a-type-and-not-in-a-good-way/amp/

I don’t really care one way or another but there was a reason Griffin was trying to develop Beauchamp and Jackson and as Doc won’t play these two, I don’t think that Doc is going to solve this issue.

Interesting article on NBA leads: "20 is the old 12." I know we've talked about this (and HRB mentions this a lot) but the article puts some numbers to our theories. E.g.,

Two decades ago during the 2003-04 season, which was James' rookie season, there were only 12 games in which a team overcame a 20-point deficit to win. Two seasons later, that figure dropped to five games.
This season, there have already been 31 games in which a team won after trailing by 20 points or more, one more than the record set just last season.
Six of the past seven seasons have had at least 20 20-point comebacks. The one year that didn't (2020-21) was a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and still racked up 19 such comebacks.

I don't know if the Port Cellar has a list of 10 Commandments but if so, this should be number 1.

People often debate what the greatest TV comedy was. Seinfeld? Cheers? The Honeymooners? There is only one answer: Laker Postgame shows during the glorious 33-49 2021-2022 season.

Yeah he’s had like 5-6 monster games the past few weeks after whatever it was he was doing in February. Such an enigma but he can buckets.
In essentially the same mpg, he's been far better off the bench:

As a starter: 15.6/2.4/3.7 with a .511 TS%
As a reserve: 20.5/3.1/4.3 with a .561 TS%

I still think there's a way that he recovers to the point where he's a productive bench scorer for a good team. It took Jordan Crawford 10 years and 4 teams to find his place in the league, if he can keep it together mentally that path is still available to Poole once his big dumb contract is done.

I figured Kawhi would at least miss a game or two with his back, surprising to hear that he played today. Harden on the other hand missed his 2nd straight, the Clippers lost to the Pelicans (a very possible first round matchup), and are now just 7-9 since their one day appearance atop the WC standings.

As Trevor Booker once said of old friend Enes Freedom, nee Kanter, “He got his stats and he got the L, as always.”

Enlighten me as to the alternate interpretation, when it's a rejoinder to someone posting his (positive, impressive) stats.
There was once a path for Ayton to be a winning basketball player that he has eschewed in favor of getting paid to post empty box score stats like Enes Freedom.

Ole, that's pretty funny. I always ripped Tobias after Jimmy Butler claimed the 76ers decided to pay Harris over him.

If the price is right, I could see TH turning into a 6th man, bench bucket-getter for a contender over the next few seasons.
BUT he'll probably return to Sixers, on an overinflated deal, after they strike out in free agency

I'd be stunned if he's still playable in the NBA, it's a nice story but g league stats mean absolutely nothing other than he can hit wide open 3s and doesn't need to play defense because no one there does.

The end of this game is insane.

It's also insane they keep docking the Lakers 2-3 seconds each time the shot clock malfunctions.

It's gone from 1:42 to 1:32 and nothing has happened.

Yeah lakers gave up as a silent protest. Down 7 with almost 2 min left and the ball that should have been hyper competitive.
