Just seeing the highlights from the dunk contest. McClung's head was just an inch or two below the rim on at least one of those dunks. For a guy just a little above six feet tall, that's a TON of hops. I don't know the difference between high, that high, and that high, but yeah, dude can really, really jump.
……while he double pumped in mid-air on one and tapped the backboard with ball prior to dunking on the first. Kid didn’t miss any and went through his 50’s like it was another day in the gym without breaking a sweat. Hopefully next year Shaedon and Ja will join him.

My favorite part of the dunk contest was watching all the legit NBA guys lose their shit over McClung. And it wasn't patronizing (well, maybe it was a little bit). Mostly, it seemed like they were legit impressed by this dude they'd clearly never heard of. All kinds of lip-reads like, "who the fuck IS this guy?" I enjoyed the hell out of it.

And I think the Alvarado skit deserved more points for originality and meta-NBAness.

Team LeBron is a 2.5-point favorite over Team Giannis tonight. Obviously the teams haven’t been picked yet, so what does this represent? If LeBron replaced Giannis in Milwaukee, would the Bucks power rating be improved 2.5 points? (I don’t think so.) Is James a better GM? (No, he traded for Westbrook.)

He gets points for getting Kyrie to sort of shut up?

This is the 6th year that the all star teams have been chosen in this format, and the 6th time that LeBron has been one of the captains. In the previous 5 years, LeBron has won every single time. He's not the world's greatest GM, but when it comes to picking all-stars for a single game, clearly he's figured something out.

LeBron has manhandled Giannis in every All-Star draft thus far which is the reason. I believe this is the lowest the spread has been in this matchup. I think last year was LeBron -6.

Totals are 326.5 full game and 189.5 for the 1H….neither of which have been hit in the 3 years since Paul/Silver agrees to implement the Elam Ending. The first 3Q are played normally with the final target score being the leading teams point total after 3Q plus 24 (to honor Kobe).

Well the fact of the matter is, there are probably lots of guys out there in the world who are absolutely insane dunkers, but who nobody has ever heard of because they're not great basketball players. But if you put them in a dunk contest like this, they could make everyone lose their minds.

This would actually be a really cool idea to implement. I don't care about the dunk contest much anymore, but if you told me next year it was a bunch of random people they found in it I think that would be great. I would think they'd also be more reckless with what they try, for better or worse. Then again, if it was successful the NBA would probably make a reality show leading into it on people auditioning, and ruin the whole idea about being complete wildcards

They had a show on TNT called The Dunking which was all professional dunkers like Jordan Kilgannon and Porter Mayberry.

Had these guys really never heard of McClung? I find that hard to believe with the social media following he gained during college for his acrobatics. He’d been one of the most explosive scorers and dunkers over 3 college seasons in 2 of the most prestigious conferences at Georgetown and Texas Tech that a bunch of these guys came up with through AAU.

There’s the line move to 323.5. This makes total sense.

This is a good point. He wasn’t nobody.

I mean, what is the precedent for a 6-2 white guy coming in and doing THAT? Completely freakish athleticism in a surprising package, with the extra sauce that the guy isn't good enough to play a lot in the league just in basketball terms.

I dont know how many of you watch tnt but lefko ascsnding to the lead host on the b squad is baffling. He has to be a nepo baby, he's consistently terrible and corny on air.

I feel like I accidentally have five different audio tracks playing simultaneously. Did they just mic up everyone in the arena to share their thoughts throughout the night?

Glad they got the audio stuff worked out. I’m actually weirdly excited for this draft. Very cool concept.

This is fun and I’m sure it will only get better in future years. Easily the second or first best ASG only behind the MLB.

Does that mean Giannis is rolling with three centers?

Team Giannis could definitely win (lillard was a terrific first pick), but it's no surprise that Lebron has a far better team right now. He can certainly out-GM other players.
Just not when it’s an actual team and he ends up with Westbrook :redwine:

Picking the starters last makes no logical sense to me basketball-wise. It's only to keep the audience, right?
