I dunno. That looked less impactful than Embiid's hit but you have so much more control over an arm/hand. It's just so blatantly intentional that it felt worse to me. Embiid was flailing with ill intent. That felt like a calculated move from Harden.

The logic offered is that while Embiid may have been going for the nads, his intent was primarily to get a guy off from over him, and intended mad kicking was instrumental to that legitimate purpose. Harden was just hitting nads because.

FWIW, that intent distinction can actually hold up in court even for homicide.

If you don’t think Embiid’s intent was to kick him in the balls there’s a bridge the home team would like to sell you…

feel like that should have been a flagrant 1 on Harden, but Embiid probably should have gotten a 2, so refs appear to have said "we tried to give you a break as a team and you fucked it up so somebody has to get ejected" which is bad officiating.

Maybe an intentional attempt to make some space, but no way it’s an intentional attempt to hit him in the balls. The officiating is so inconsistent to leave Embiid in and eject Harden. One might even say the only thing missing is video conformation they’re using a Magic 8-Ball to make these decisions.

The Celtics were already one of the most likable teams I can remember… and getting more so.

Wow. So dumb. That could cost them the game.
Not remotely defending Claxton, just would note that the initial T on him was an atrocious call. If they correctly threw Embiid out on that and didn’t give Claxton a T that dumbass taunting T wouldn’t have really mattered.

Sure. That can be consistent with an independent intent of getting the guy off from over him, though, which would be understandable in ways that Harden’s wasn’t.

Well, “understandable” is probably the wrong word; I think we all understand what Harden did, yeah? :D

What is Embiid doing?
This is who he is—-he’s a spectacularly talented player, but he’s not all that stable and while he’s clearly a very smart person (just listen to him off the court) he plays emotionally and stupid much of the time.

Embiid not being able to do anything late against a team who is down to like a 6'4" 225lb guy as their best "big" is embarrassing

I meant more standing outside the 3 point line every possession. This is just bizarre.

I think the theory is that doubling him above the 3 point line in the middle of the floor creates more advantages for Philly than having him doubled in the post.

PHI going to win by just getting 4 shots a possession, I think they have the 3 biggest guys on the floor, and BKN has no options on the bench. Not surprising since this roster wasn't supposed to win this year post trades but still.
