Rory just putted a ball into the water.

Edit: It actually stayed up, just rolled down the bank into thicker rough on the bank. Still probably making a bogey on a par 5 he had 176 in and hit it to about 30 feet away for eagle.

Also, Scottie is having just a preposterous season. Calendar 2023 results:

T7, T11, 1, T12, T4, 1, 4, T10, T11, T5, T2, T3, 3, 3

Currently T4 in Connecticut and will probably win.

And he can't putt!

Those posts have aged well. Rory ended up making par after nearly putting it into the water and is now -7 through 13 on his round and T3.

Scottie is +1 on his round today and down to T12.

Flipping over to the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Baltusrol. Rose is -1 and T9 as she begins the 2nd round.

In other news, Keegan Bradley a pedestrian -4 through 11 holes at the Travelers as he continues to treat TPC River Highlands like a par 65…

Edit: -5 through 12. 4 round scoring record for a PGA event is in play.

Bradley playing VERY tight here. If he bogeys 16 and Cantlay birdies 17, things get interesting.

Just saw it on Twitter, Scottie Scheffler has finished in the Top 12 in his last 18 events! That is just unbelievable.

He hasn't finished outside the top 5 in the last two months. And he still can't putt that well. A machine.

LIV as a business venture was a massive failure. I fail to see the connection to TGL.

And we don't really know that LIV players won.

It makes Tiger's results almost season after season look even more insane when you think about how well Scottie is playing.

Tiger ended 2006 and started 2007 like this (happened to be the first couple years I looked at):

I literally laughed out loud at those results. That is just amazing.

The best one I saw is that, cumulatively, Scottie has been beaten by 66 total players this season through 15 events. Scottie probably has 5-6 starts left, he legitimately could end the year with less than 100 players beating him.

For comparison, Tiger's best year was 2000 when he won 9 times and was cumulatively beaten by 63 players that year.

And Scottie's strokes gained numbers are wild. His total strokes gained average for the season is 0.4 higher than 2nd place (Rahm) and that's even with Scottie losing strokes on the greens. He's having a historic tee to green season. Over the last month, tee to green, Scottie is a more than a shot better than 2nd place Rory. It's absurd.

After the Wachovia Tiger then went into a brief win-less streak from the Players through Open Championship before finishing 2007 WIN WIN (PGA) T2 WIN WIN.

How about this one?

During the 2000 season, Tiger averaged 2.91 shots on par 3's, 3.91 on par 4's and 4.45 on par 5's (meaning he was more likely to make eagle than bogey on a par 5).

He won 9 times in 20 starts and had 17 top 10's. 6 of those wins were back to back, 3 were Majors and he won the US Open by 15 strokes.

At one point today the too 3 was Moore, Shenk, and Lower and you can't get a better trifecta of names at the top of a leaderboard in golf.
