Thank you! My son messaged me this morning that she passed away this morning. It is rough, I didn't know she was ill until yesterday, and now she is gone. She and my son didn't make it with their marriage, but it was an amicable parting. They had been together for years, through his tour to Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. I still have the blanket she gave me for Christmas one year, and the Starbucks cup she got me for my birthday. I have been crying all day.
I don't know why she didn't want us to know she was sick. If we had known it would have been a lot less of a shock. My son learned she was diagnosed a year ago with terminal cancer. She was taking an experimental treatment that actually apparently worked for awhile and then failed. I still can't believe it.
Edited because of a misunderstanding. Just found out from my other son that it is my ex daughter in law's mother who had cancer and died. Voice message misunderstanding. Still very sad as her mother was a very nice lady, and sad for my former daughter in law.
