We win 2 in a row and immediately go back to a disastrous shitshow home game featuring humiliating defense, a wasted good start, and another injury to a key player.

Two nice swings today by Rafaela today, so at least that's a more encouraging donut.

It's a shame because the D was great while Crawford was in the game. Offense is just incomplete right now.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
It's beyond ironic that Cora is often known as "The Genius" 'round these parts, but this might be the dumbest baseball team I've ever experienced.
There was only one truly bad thing there.

1) Casas gets his glove on a groundball. Check. Weird outcome - deflection.
2) Valdez is tracking the same groundball. Check. Weird outcome - deflection moves it behind him.
3) Abreu was coming in and got to the ball. Check.
4) Abreu assesses a play at 2nd, where Hamilton is there to cover. Check.
5) The bad thing is the throw into the IF dirt as the runner was arriving.
6) Hamilton does not field it cleanly, and Casas was there to assist.

I mean yes, the defense was bad there, but this offense has two shits thru 7 innings...

You will not win many games with a dead ass offense...

At what point do you consider a minor leaguer like Nick Sogard for 2B/SS? Someone to at least catch the ball on routine plays such as just now.

My prayer is that O'Neill got a superficial cut from his glasses, and that Devers stayed on the ground for a long time because he likes to lie on the ground for a long time. Relieved he's still in there.
I was making lunch, but I was pretty sure what happened. Spouse kept saying he has a concussion, and I kept saying, not necessarily in this guy's case.
Anyway, he needs to be a DH. What a shame, I'll really miss Masa.

My worry is that we should be 12-6 given the pitching we have had, and when that fades we will be in trouble.
Valdez: .116
Rafaela .160
You could be Willie Mays in center but if you don't hit .200 you are pretty useless. SSS and all of that, and Rafaela did hit the ball hard. Still, it is worrying.

Catching a throw from the outfield seems like a foreign concept to our infielders.

The only clean connection between an outfielder and an infielder today involved two skulls.

I know one injury to Story can't explain everything but right now it just feels like so many guys on this roster I don't want them to hit it to.
Losing Story does seem to have destabilized the entire infield. At this point they are playing tight and scared. Layering that on top of no talent is a bad recipe.
