It hits 100 occasionally. He is filthy. This guy throws 98 mph cutters?
Yep 2 earned runs and just 10 baserunners and it’s an L. The defense just kills this team.Losing 5-4 after giving up 2 ER is super sweet.
Is Cora ever going to put his foot down about all these errors?5 runs given up and only 2 earned.
In the front office, demanding that Brez get Iggy?Is Cora ever going to put his foot down about all these errors?
As long as Brez has a time machine to get Iggy when he was actually goodIn the front office, demanding that Brez get Iggy?
I don't know why. Other than his hitting, fielding, and baserunning, he's been terrificRice and Pap eviscerating Hamilton.
I feel kind of bad for him. I have to think this is in part mental, and that's probably not limited to him.I don't know why. Other than his hitting, fielding, and baserunning, he's been terrific
Giving extra outs is even worse when you're playing in a hitter's park.7-3 on the road, 3-7 at home. Make it make sense.
I count 4 games including this one decided by errors. This team would be, like, 12-7 if it it weren't for all the dumbfuck errors. Truly awful stuff. Hamilton, Reyes, Abreu and Rafaela each have 3. That's astonishing
Yeah, average defense and their record is much better. This team would be, like, 12-7 if it it weren't for all the dumbfuck errors. Truly awful stuff. Hamilton, Reyes, Abreu and Rafaela each have 3. That's astonishing
yeah, I wasn't going to dig into it too much because it's too annoying. But that feels about right!I count 4 games including this one decided by errors.
Would you consider starting a Defense 2024 thread on the main board? And posting the games/errors there? I think it would make for an interesting dedicated conversation outside of the monthly team thread.I count 4 games including this one decided by errors.
Hopefully just some growing pains that come with giving a lot of playing time to young players. Tough to watch, seems like almost everyone on the team is pressing and trying to do way too much. This team would be, like, 12-7 if it it weren't for all the dumbfuck errors. Truly awful stuff. Learn something new every dayTurns out that unearned runs actually matter.
Yeah, average defense and their record is much better.
And/or a couple of the scuffing guys having a normalish season with the bat. Not even a good season. Just not-abysmal.
Baseball isn't an easy sport, but at times this does seem like very low-hanging fruit.
Yeah, that's the optimistic case, and I think its the right one. I think the game just needs to slow down for Abreu and Rafaela. They're both clearly pressing. Hamilton is a bad fielder, on the other hand. Reyes, I don't know what's happening with him.Hopefully just some growing pains that come with giving a lot of playing time to young players. Tough to watch, seems like almost everyone on the team is pressing and trying to do way too much.
Sometimes, when the team is down 2 or 3 runs in the middle innings of a game, I think Cora actively makes the worst bullpen decisions possible in an attempt to put the game out of reach so that he doesn't have to make any actual decisions later in the game if the team is trying to come from behind.I wasn't too happy with going to Jacques on a completely fresh pen, either. Have the day off Monday, just because Cleveland is lefty-heavy at the top of the lineup doesn't mean you go to Jacques.
To be far Jacques did his job when first called on.Sometimes, when the team is down 2 or 3 runs in the middle innings of a game, I think Cora actively makes the worst bullpen decisions possible in an attempt to put the game out of reach so that he doesn't have to make any actual decisions later in the game if the team is trying to come from behind.
There are already too many left feet out there..Is Cora ever going to put his foot down about all these errors?
Maybe they could try some left handed throwers in the infield. Start a new market efficiency. There's already too many left feet in the infield.
Check the stats again. That number may be "errors" or "unearned runs."No way there was 35,000 at that game today.
Two series against top teams at home, two series against garbage teams on the road. Also like 100 injuries affecting the homestand, not the road trip.7-3 on the road, 3-7 at home. Make it make sense.
Mike MileyThere must be somebody on the MLB scrapheap who can do better than Hamilton?
Well, the mental errors certainly are. Kidding aside, he clearly needs to be out from under this microscope. He's not a shortstop and while I understand the difficulties that this roster presents, they have to stop running him out there at SS.I feel kind of bad for him. I have to think this is in part mental, and that's probably not limited to him.
My first reaction was "dune buggy" but it turns out that was Danny Frisella. Miley was just a plain old car crash.Mike Miley
