Not a great day for ATM, but ROMAN was 1-4 with a hit, a walk & a steal (& 3 k's).

Mayer's season-long hit streak came to an end with an 0-5 & Teel was 0-4 (they each struck out once).

Phillip Sikes was 2-4 with a double.

BVB allowed 2 runs in the 1st & 3 in the 2nd, but at least settled down after that & gave the bullpen a chance to chill a bit in game 1 of the doubleheader.

BTW Nathan Hickey got his 1st start at 1B since college in game 1 today. In '21 with the University of Florida he played 4 games at 1B, 5 games at 3B & 40 games at catcher.

Prior to today, this season he had 9 starts at DH & 5 at catcher, & every appearance in the field for Hickey in the Red Sox org had been at catcher.

For game 2 he's swapping with Niko Kavadas, who played DH in game 1.

Good segue. Ended up going to a professional lacrosse game with the kids last night & am officially behind.

Worcester lost game two 4-3.

Some precautionary words on Grissom... the 2 singles had EVs of 75 & 56 mph, & the steal was part of a double steal where Eddy Alvarez stole 3rd, but definitely a good sign overall....& those were Worcester's only 2 hits of the game.

They did have 7 walks - 2 each for Hickey & Westbrook & 1 each for Alvarez, Niko & Rosier.

Contreras got hit by a pitch & picked up a sac fly.

Jason Alexander started & allowed 3 runs in 4 innings.

Justin Hagenman came in & had his 1st good outting since his first game of the season, retiring all 9 hitters he faced & striking out 5 of them.

Hayden Mullins had a solid 1st 4 innings when he allowed 1 run, but he came out for the 5th & ended up allowing 2 more runs with the help of some questionable defense & questionable relief pitching.
