Trey Ball, what the hell?  4 H (including two homers) and 2 BB take him only through 4 2/3, giving up four runs.

He's not pitching up to his rep.  Yadda yadda yadda just a teenager...

But if you do look at the game log, (from last Thursday, I believe) you'll see that everything was going well until he hit the 80 pitch "wall" and then couldn't get out of the 5th.  So all in all,not bad for a 20 year old, making just his 25th start in the minors.  I'd rather see a high-ceiling pitcher making "baby-steps" than a low-ceiling pitcher cruising in the low minors with his changeup.

And for the record, I too, fell for the outdated link, and was wondering why the hell Ball was starting on one day's rest, until I noticed the similar pitching line.

5 no hit innings for Buttrey today.  2 BB, 7K

He has now put up the following line on the year:

22IP, 17H, 6ER, 3BB, 22K

He's certainly old for the league but its a pretty encouraging start after some of the good press he was getting in March.  I'm intrigued to see if he can regain his prospect status.

Manuel Margot is an unstoppable rebel force.  He now has 2+ hits in 7 of his 15 games so far.  Also, STILL has not struck out.  Starting to get into the territory where I want to start digging into the longest K-less streaks in minor league annals.

He also only has 4 walks. He could just be being very aggressive. If he keeps hitting like this you'd have to think pitchers will get better reports or see if he'll chase more etc. I'd like to see that go up in a hot streak, or if he's just too good for the level. A combined 4 walks 0 strikeouts for a combined total of 4 over 15 games seems fairly amazing.

Clearly his walk rate isn't great but when he is hitting lasers like this why walk? Force pitchers to adjust. I don't see him as a big strikeout guy either way. He had very good contact numbers last year and his BABIP has always been quite strong - an indication in the minors of a guy making consistently great contact.

Simply put, it's looking like he has an excellent pure hit tool, so while more walks would be nice, he can probably succeed without being Youkilis-like in plate discipline.

It should also be noted that he's had 3 walks this week. He is probably not going to be a 100 walk a year guy... but a 50-60 walk a year guy. Which, if he continues to hit in this fashion, is fine.

Yep, the guy he models his game after, Adam Jones, has done pretty damn will with an even more aggressive approach.  Not sure we can project Margot to slug .500 like Jones but I think he's got more plate discipline as well.  I think a reasonable case for Margot is he winds up as a guy who hits something like .280/.340/.440 with 10-15 HRs and 20-25 steals with good range in CF; basically a Shane Victorino type.  If he develops more pop (tough to project since he's like 5-11, 175), he could be a possible 20-20 guy.
