Because he was playing deep and Story for some reason didn't take it himself?
He had PLENTY of time to slow down/plant and throw. Just terrible instincts.

Fortunately Jansen loosened up again and was back to 94-95. Someone is going to get to him early in innings with the slop he is throwing up there the first 5-10 pitches.

If Cedanne is JBJ 2.0. I'm cool with that, altho he does seem to have more foot speed than Jackie did.
Statcast taught us that, although Bradley wasn’t fast, he sometimes started his jump *before* the hitter made contact. He was less of an athlete than he was a tiny ripple in space-time.

Caught a few bits and pieces. Not really too worried about the offense, feels like the Sox get off to a slow start plenty of times without it really meaning anything for the rest of the season, but definitely not optimistic about Jansen. At his best, he wasn't exactly lights out and now it's an adventure every outting. I don't see that getting better as the season grinds on. I wouldn't be sad to see them find an injury that requires an extended stint in the DL.

Oh, and that sweet sweep WATER!

I was somewhat reassured by him hitting 95 by the end, and also jokingly saying during the post-game interview that he's going to stop walking guys left and right, and that his spring training is finally over now. We'll have to see.

From a quick review it looks like Pivetta has 4 career starts in Oakland. One in each of the last four years. He's 4-0.

2021: 1-0
2022: 8-0
2023: 7-0
2024: 1-0

The Red Sox did it just last night, didn't they?
I’m glad this was brought up as I was thinking last night that Cora was being incredibly and unusually move-sy. Just dawned on me that it may be because managers are getting used to the new extra innings rules or analytics departments have more data and it’s like THESE GAMES DO NOT LAST LONG so just go ahead and burn your backup catcher etc.

Maybe?

If you’d offered me 5-5 at the start of this trip I’d have taken your arm off. Now that’s the worst-case scenario.

Heart-attack shutout.

Little Raffy not a great game on D.

A better team would have made those MIF miscues/failed DP's pay.

I'm going home
Why, Seattle is middle of the pack and Oakland is the worst team in MLB in quite some time.
Dude, Seattle has a top rotation in baseball. Even the A's took one from the Guardians. They're on a 10 game west coast trip. You picked them to win 63 games this season, and you're asking us why 5-5 would be a good trip? GTFOH.

I don't know why you have to keep shitting all over these threads. It's old and it's tired. Give it a rest.
