Day game following a night game usually means crap offense for the Yankees. On the flip side, the weather is cold, the pitchers are young, and both teams used too much of their bullpens on Saturday, so who knows what the pitching will look like.

But we get to see more of Luis Gil, so whatever happens, we'll learn more about this kid, and that could be fun. Let's win this game and take another series.

It's all about record in one run games so far for NY:

2023: 17-23
2024: 4-0

I'm sure Gil will learn how to better maintain his composure the more experience he gets, but that was frustrating to watch. Angel got in his head with that shitty called strike three that should have been a timeout. And things spiraled from there.

That is all on Gil. The pitches Hernandez was calling balls were not even particularly close.

No shit. The kid was already frustrated from the earlier nonsense and started seeing things that weren't there. He lost his composure. I hope he learns from it.

Oh wow. Sox fan here, but that grand slam by Stanton was crushed in such a satisfyingly beautiful way that any baseball fan has to appreciate it. Reminded me of the shot Manny hit off of Francisco Rodriguez, which is still my favorite home run of all time (aesthetically, not baseball-wise).

The sound that ball made was so satisfying. Just crushed.

Good win.

Took the series, offense was good, and a promising young pitcher had a great opportunity to learn and grow and it didn't cost the team a victory.

Angel Hernandez is an embarrassment to the sport.

Nice job by Santana closing it out, he can’t be sent down so it’s make or break for him. Cousins might get sent down before tomorrow’s game, Marinaccio seems to have found it again in AAA.

In the craziest stat you’ll see today, the Yankees threw the 66 fastest pitches in this game.
