At least Dermody is gone as far as needing a spot starter (which would be Thursday getaway at MIN). Can Bryan Mata seriously not make that start?

Just told a Yankees fan family of five that it was postponed . They were so happy someone told them and the grandfather shook, rather firmly, my hand. Old school New Yorkers.

Fox would just show Rays Padres instead today and I'm assuming would lose the game tomorrow, or maybe have it on FS1? Not sure. So it complicates it in the fact that they'll get worse ratings, but maybe not much given standings and Judge being out.
What I saw is that it would be a day/night double header tomorrow with NESN getting the day game and the horrid four letter getting the night game.

Huh? It’s pretty heavy there at the Fens

there’s heavier stuff?
Since about 8 AM it seemed like two bouts of steady rain (not deluge level) came through for about an hour each with general drippiness otherwise, but YMMV.

*That's* one I wish I'd thought of.

So ..looking for threading advice.

I have a Father's Day thread-starter mentally teed up.
Do I wait and see if I get the game 2 honors? Do I put it in this thread as a rainout-induced mega thread interregnum?
I will check back tomorrow morning to gauge board sentiment.

I am going to game 2.
It's your call. Here are the responses when this was asked a couple of weeks ago.
Does anyone remember how we normally handle game threads on the day following a postponement? Just change the title and continue on or start a new one?
As the thread starter I say your call.
IIRC, this one for game 1 and a new one for game 2. Yes, I'm optimistic.

edit: or what tims said.
Thanks. I'm thinking I'll stick with this one, considering the work put in already by @LynnRice75. I'll freshen up the title.

I'm confused about why they have to change our pitching, whereas the NYY pitching stays the same. Wasn't Bello scheduled for last night and Paxton for tonight? Why can't Bello pitch this afternoon and Paxton tonight? What problem does that present?????????????????????????

Whenever you get the chance to use Kaleb Ort against the Yankees, you can't pass that up.
It's clever to use him in the first inning, as that gives you more time to catch up.

Not only that but I can't find any national TV coverage for the early game. Was Fox last night, but I don't see Fox, FS1, FS2, MLBN or anybody else today. Schmidt vs. Ort, maybe who cares. Hate watching Severino though (night game).

It's good to use most of the pen in the first game of a doubleheader!
More 3D chess!
This is the most legitimate criticism. A bullpen game was in the cards as soon as the decision to have Paxton start Monday was made. But a bullpen game basically guarantees that Bello has to give them innings tonight, regardless.

Are you accusing me of posting substance? You know what happens to people when they do that? I'd have you ask Larry33, but....

Ort allowing just 3 runs over 2 innings would seem to be Cora's hope to set up both games. Good luck!

Miami (oh, Miami!)
For some reason they want Murphy to be the bulk guy over starting
Maybe a first inning effort to have Murphy avoid the yips or something? Force the NYYs to choose between making their lineup for a RHP for 6 or so outs or a LHP for more, later? Then back to Winckowski if needed?

It's not the craziest idea I've heard.

But then again, I haven't seen the comparison of Ort v. Anybody Else With a Pulse vs. the Yank's likely line-up. So perhaps it is crazy. We will see.
