@AlNipper49 reached out to me & suggested we give daily threads a try as a way to keep some quality minor league content rolling.

With all due apologies to @Cuzittt, I cannot replicate his style if I tried, so this will have to do until someone replaces me.

Hope everyone keeps going with their great contributions that they have in the 2023 Minor League Thread & we keep on enjoying the positivity of the Red Sox Minor League system.

Starting tomorrow, will try to get these going in the mornings, but this one is more of a test run to get suggestions & play with some formatting.

Waiting for Worcester to post the Stephen Scott 3-run homer video.

NY's personnel decisions even backfiring on their off day, they put Matt Bowman (meh AAA reliever) on their 40 man today so he wouldn't opt out, then he promptly gave up 4 runs and the lead in the 8th to Worcester.

Not sure which thread to post in but anyway, C note with his first walk so far in AAA. Isn't that incredible given his supposed focus on improving his patience this year and cutting down on his aggressiveness?! His walk rate in fact has not improved at all this year overall compared with last. But despite that, he's hitting very well. That's the main thing but I'm not sure how to interpret what's going on. Has he maybe improved his pitch selection even though it's not reflected in his walk rate?

It’s kid of crazy that GVL was postponed. It was a bit thundery and some rain, but frankly I’ve seen way way way worse. I was shocked to hear that it was cancelled

His second was today. There was a whole conversation on it in the Trade Value thread this morning for some reason.

https://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?threads/the-2023-trade-deadline-scenarios.39776/

To me, right now he's a pretty elite bad ball hitter, but isn't recognizing pitches that well. Others will likely have a more refined & nuanced opinion on the matter, though.

Chris Hatfield also went into some depth on it this evening on Twitter:

"And that's basically what they did when he took off in Portland. They were trying to get him to see more pitches and he was taking pitches just to take them. They took the reins off and he started hitting again. It's almost certainly going to limit his ceiling, but it can work."

To be blunt, sounds like the whole make-him-more-patient approach was a bust and he'll be a lesser big league hitter because of it. Shoot.
