It's been pouring rain all day at Potomac Nationals stadium, which has terrible drainage, so not guaranteed they'll play yet. Weather improving a bit this hour.

I'd love to know the last time the Sox or one of their affiliates have had weather postponements on 4 consecutive schedule dates.

It's somewhat reminiscent of the '75 Series when, after an off day for travel from Cincinnati following Game 5, it poured in Boston for three straight days & nights before Game 6 could be played. 117 hours & 38 minutes elapsed between the end of G5 and the first pitch of G6.

* Heri Quevedo will get the start for Lowell tonight.

* The Sox have been taking it really, really, super-duper, ultra-slow with 1st rounder Michael Kopech. He's now made 6 starts for GCL since July 12 -- a month to the day -- and he's thrown a grand total of 9.2 innings. Today he tossed 3 hitless frames with 1 BB & 2 K, which is nice to see. And despite two outings where he was charged with 3 ER in 1.1 IP and 2 ER in 0.1 IP respectively, he's held 39 batters to a .176/.282/.235/.517 line while striking out more than a quarter of them. Hopefully they're just being careful with workload due to pitch count concerns going back to his HS season and any associated pre-draft showcase work, but I can't help wondering if there's an injury issue they're delicately working around.

Lowell postponed by rain. Doubleheader tomorrow.

Salem postponed by rain again. They will now play a doubleheader on Thursday in addition to Wednesday. Another game has been cancelled. 4 consecutive rain outs for Salem/Potomac... neither team has played since Thursday the 7th.

Is DSL Basabe a prospect or is he going to get Jaired? I know they got the same signing bonus. No clue what Xander or Jair got though.

Good to see Garin on a small hot stretch, he's teased before though. Hopefull he can end the season on a tear.

The DSL Basabe (Luis Alejandro, who I'm going to start calling "Laj" because I'm getting sick of typing their full names) doesn't appear to be nearly at the level of his twin brother. Both have great speed, but Luis Alexander (who I'll call "Lax") has been the better hitter of the two and profiles further up in the lineup. Last season Lax hit primarily lead-off for DSL. They played in roughly the same number of games last year, but Lax had 268 PA to Laj's 198.

This season, Laj missed about a month due to injury, the nature of which wasn't publicized by the club. He returned to action with DSL on July 24, a day after Lax made his GCL debut. Lax started out hitting in the 7 and 6 holes as he was weaned into a new league and country (he was dropped to 8th for 2 starts vs LHP). But since August 2 he's batted 5th exclusively, usually ahead of Chavis or Ockimey.

After Lax left DSL, Laj replaced him hitting leadoff. But it seems like they're trying to shoehorn him into role he's not fit for, because so far Laj hasn't responded well (.159/.339/.182/.521 in 57 PA)

As you note, they did get the same bonus ($450,000 apiece for anyone else wondering). As for the Bogaerts boys, Xander got $510,000 while Jair got $180,000.

That's 3 straight blown saves for Noe (4 IP, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 4 K) after going 13-for-13 in save opps.

As for Scott, he went nearly a month after July 10 without being tagged for any runs (8 IP over 7 G), but he's now been scored on in his last two outings.

LAj and LAx work, I was going with DSL and GCL. Hopefully it remains to annoy us as it means both are doing well. Looks like LAx is really seperating himself though and primed to make a run at the top 10 in the system next year.

Seriously, Margot is on some kind of tear. OPS is now over 800 for the year and is an insane 1.239 in August. Another week like this and I hope he at least gets a taste of action in Salem as a reward.
