I think the dagger in the heart was the GS yesterday. Not quite as awesome as the ultimate dagger that was Damon’s GS in G7 of ALCS ‘04 but absolutely wonderful. You k ow what is underrated though? Dragging a corpse around the walls of the city and kicking it around a bit to taunt the home crowd.

We will probably lose today. Yankees are playing for pride. Team meeting, Yadda yadda, whatever. Good news is that win or lose we win, because we get to leave that repulsive dump at the end.

You know what happens at the end of "Pride of the Yankees"? The Yankee dies. The MFY are dead men walking.
Good point. I think a come from behind would really kill them. That’s what I’m going to root for.

I have to give top billing to the bunt-into-DP event as it tidily combined an organizational failure, managerial failure, and twin player failures into one package.

You had a questionable idea coming from scouting, an odd choice by the manager to utilize said scouting in the game situation, and then a popup by the batter and poor read by the runner. Wong gets some love for his play too.

Odds are neither the Sox or the Yankees are leaving Troy alive (no postseason appearance), but win today

Game 124
In an 8 to 1 win, 3 Red Sox went deep.
Even in the toilet, the shots weren’t cheap.
The offense has picked it up. I hope we keep
putting up good at bats, so that we can creep
up in the standings and eventually leap
over some teams ahead of us in the heap.
That goal is in reach though the journey is steep.
(To climb up this mountain, we may need a Jeep.)
Another reward that a win helps us reap
is putting the Yanks’ season further to sleep.
(It is already snoozing and counting sheep
without any sign their alarm clock will beep.)
There's one simple fact that is starting to seep
into Yankee fans minds; It's “Our team is /bleep/.”
It’s fun when we make their crowd boo, curse, and weep,
or silent them down, so they don’t make a peep.
Make it happen on Sunday. Let’s get the sweep.

That's just pride fucking with them. Pride only hurts. It never helps.

I’m smelling a cheapie from Reese today to the short porch.

Sweep these bastards. I want to completely take their dignity away today.

I mean they kind of are and their fans are great too. But also totally annoying.
They have very much brought Houston falling out of the playoffs into play, a win today puts them within half a game of them. (Geno just hit a moon shot, 4-0 now) The Sox really, really need to take care of business against Houston. If they can go 5-2 against them over the next week and a half, they are essentially tied. These last 6 weeks of the season are going to be awesome.

I love that Reyes is staying in the 9 hole. Great Start with the Raffy HR!!! The Sox really are in the position of needing sweeping a couple of series in addition to winning some. Hopefully the today is the first of a few as they head into this killer home stretch of the season.
