Any other SoSHers in the skydome, err, Rogers Centre tonight? It’s a great night for baseball in the 6.

The Jays got swept by Texas being out scores 35-9 in the 4 game set. I suggest we make it 81-11 after tonight

Game 148
What will the Red Sox do in this final stretch?
We could get red hot, start a win streak, and etch
our name into lore, but our team is a wretch.
Will this be a fun chase like Chevy in Fletch
or one that falls flat like an SNL sketch?
We could win 6 games against teams we must catch,
but that’s not gonna happen, kinda like “fetch.”
(Yes, I have watched Mean Girls. Perhaps I’m a letch.)
Win game one tonight, so I don’t have to kvetch.

Kvetching is the Sosh-given right of every poster.
Yet, I would Prefer Not To.
Geaux, Sox!

There was never any hope, as exemplified by last weekend, when the Red Sox had 23 hits in a 9-inning game and lost, and the next day the Yankees had zero hits in 10 innings and won.
https://theathletic.com/4864286/2023/09/15/orioles-13-red-sox-12-yankees-4-brewers-3/

Teams that pounded out 23 hits or more in a nine-inning game got to do a lot of handshaking and high-fiving, seeing as how, after that game in 1930, they embarked on a 241-game winning streak… until the 2023 Red Sox came along last Saturday.
No team had allowed 23 hits and still won a game no matter how many innings it went in more than four decades, since Sept. 3, 1981, when Julio Cruz’s ’81 Mariners gave up 23 hits in 20 innings in yet another classic at Fenway but still beat the Red Sox, 8-7.
And since that day, teams that got 23 hits or more in games of any length, from nine innings all the way up to 25 innings, had gone a mere 137-0 in those games… until Orioles-Red Sox busted out last Saturday.
Teams that spin off nine hitless innings tend to win a lot. In the division-play era (1969-2023), 150 teams have pitched exactly nine innings of hit-free, run-free domination in either a regular-season or postseason game. The record of those teams is a spotless 150-0. Because when you don’t give up a hit and don’t give up any runs, it’s hard to lose!
Or 10 hitless innings is also cool… because no team in the modern era has pitched exactly 10 hitless, scoreless innings in a game and lost, either.
Baseball totally sucks.

Hey Mr. Bloom replacement guy: I'm fine with Abreu, Duran and Rafaela in the OF. I'll let you decide what to do with Masa/Tuner/Duvall. The kids are FUN and energetic. PERIOD.

I really can't wait to see Bello next season. That's when the "young Pedro" comparisons could start to be seen
