I said at the time and I still agree, with the way this team hasn't developed pitching, they had to take a gamble on Sale's extension, which was a bit below market rate for what he was in 2017.
It blew up spectacularly but I understand the logic behind it.

When does his contract end? The last year of it he will find his stroke.
Believe me, I'd prefer he retire and disappear from the planet but I think we're probably stuck with him til this contract ends.
This Orioles offense is quite good but it shouldn't be running through Aaron Hicks and James McCann.
No one cares about the wild card teams. The only remaining question is whether the Sox or the Yanks finish in last.
One can only hope as a change is needed, though in his defense he wasn’t given much to work with.
I mean the opportunity to make a move in the WC race has been there for a bit now…and the Sox are coming up short in just about every possible aspect of the game. Getting ugly.

Was a fluke. Bloom got lucky and that lucky season is the only thing the Bloomati talk about. The guy can’t build a winning 40 man roster.

The Sox don’t have the starting pitching and it cooked the bullpen. Everyone talked about needing a starter and Bloom got none and will use this failure as confirmation that he was right.
Nice BB via not expanding the strike zone at the plate. Hope the vets don't ruin Abreau's approach.
