Nowadays, we’re lucky if he puts the ball in play 5 times in 9 games.
I doubt it lasts more than a couple more weeks at most, but it's still one of the more surprising things in the early going.
Someone always starts hot - I'm just glad Cora has the sense to play the hot-hand while it lasts.
Does a reliever need to throw 94mph+ in order to make a roster these days? It sure feels that way.
Stupid question. If he knew it was the wrong call, why did he make it? Or did one of his peers point it out to him? If you catch my drift.
My honest guess is that he got both calls wrong and the second one wasn't really a makeup call. Umpires are often not very good at calling balls and strikes.
Edit: although I think in the back of their minds they might worry that they just missed a call, in which case they'll call the next borderline call the other way (even if it's not really borderline, see second sentence above).
